We've been here before and it was great, but they've recently refurbished the place which makes it even better. From welcome to departure, the staff were first-rate. It's inexpensive by Edinburgh standards, but it doesn't have a cheap feel about it. There are other Edinburgh hotels that are twice or three times the price that feel a lot cheaper. The rooms are standard Travelodge, but refurbishment of the rooms has led to some nice redecoration with pictures and a shower that works really well - it is powerful and keeps its temperature steady. The beds are very comfy and the double glazing is now, well, quadruple! Rather than replace the windows, they simply added further double glazed windows inside. What a great idea - there is NO noise from what can be quite a noisy city, but they are all still openable for ventilation!

The city centre location makes this a wonderful place to stay - 100m from the Royal Mile, less than ten minutes walk from the railway station (along Jeffrey Street, not the way Google Maps will take you!), 15 minutes to the Castle. There are enough eateries round about to give one no need to step into the New Town, one can just stay in the atmosphere and history of the Old Town!

If you want a quiet room, ask them for one when you arrive. They'll fix you up if they can. The room we had was brilliant - this tends to be a popular place for hen parties and the like, and there were two in the hotel during our stay ... at the same time. Did we hear anything of them? Not a peep!

The bar/restaurant is OK for a quick drink before you go out, but it doesn't have the atmosphere of the city! The breakfast is worth having at the price - well cooked and "all you can eat".

All in all a great place to stay if you want to experience the best bits of this beautiful city.

Room Tip: If you want a quiet room, ask for one - the lower ground rooms are much quieter that the higher ones...

We stayed here for 2 nights and enjoyed our stay. The bed was very comfortable!! We also enjoyed our buffet breakfasts which included sausage, eggs and bacon. Brilliant for a city break, and a very good price. I would happily visit this travelodge again

This hotel was a very good value and we loved the central location. We found it to be quiet at night except on early Sunday morning (2-5 am) we could hear a LOT of noisy drunk people walking in the halls, yelling, etc. The bed was super comfy and the food options were really nice.

We booked a triple room, very like the professional photos. Very clean and tidy. Near the city center (royal mile). The breakfast had little diversity. The staff was nice. The room was warm and confortable.

I stayed here for one night as I was attending a wedding locally. The hotel was conveniently situated. It was very clean. The room was lovely.I had the best nights sleep in a long time. Extremely comfortable kingsize bed with lovely full soft pillows. After reading the frequently asked questions section on the website I wasn't expecting tea and coffee making facilities in the room so I was pleasantly surprised to find some. We had pre booked the buffet breakfast which was good and had plenty of choice. Would definitely stay here again.
