“Authentic back-street local”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 3, 2012

Very small and cosy, yet often quite quiet during the week, this place servers a great selection of Scottish ales, as well as more different Whiskys than you could possibly try. Despite being a local pub everyone is very friendly towards the few tourists that make their way through the cobbled New Town streets to get there.

“Authentic Scottish Experience”

Owner, Frazier, friendly and full of stories and Scottish history. Love the handlebar mustache! Worth popping in for a drink.

“Amazing bar, even better barman (MR MOUSTACHE)”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 30, 2012

whilst on holiday in edinburgh i stumbled across this little hidden gem!
small building filled with loads of personality and histoy (and thats just the staff), great real ales for a reasonable price helped me wash down my lovely homemade chilli.

Can not wait for the festival next year, kays will definately be my first port of call!

“Excellent Bar - pity about staff attitude”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 4, 2012

As a frequent patron of this bar for 30 years I can vouch for its good qualities (a gem! ) as narrated by other reviews but sadly it is let down by a) staff unfriendliness/attitude and b) general cleanliness of the establishment, that diminishes its charm. Given it is charging top end prices it needs to improve its end game

“Excellent!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 26, 2012 via mobile

Lovely bar, staff with a fine wit and dry sense of humor! If it was during the festival you'd happily pay to see the banter and retorts between the staff and regulars.. best pint in town by far. clearly the other reviewer has a distinct lack of personality!
