Spent a night at The Bonham when visiting Edinburgh to see a show. An excellent hotel in the city centre. Convenient for all major attractions. The best views from the hotel are from the rooms to the rear as they overlook the dean village towards Fife. The car park is a little on the small side but if you double park, you can leave your ekys at reception and they will move things around to let others in/out.

Lovely hotel. It is a quiet location but easily within walking distance of Princess Street ( about 10 mins)We had superior room and view was fabulous. We had a very nice dinner in the restaurant. The staff are friendly and helpful. Only flaw was the wi if connection which required you to log in every time you wanted to use it.

I've stayed at the Bonham a couple of times and I genuinely like the hotel. On site car parking is a great advantage, great decor, lovely location and delicious food. This time we booked the best of bonham package which was meant to include standard room, bottle of prosecco & chocolates on arrival, dinner and breakfast I'm bed the next morning. We did have a lovely standard room with macaroons and chocolates but no bottle of prosecco. Unfortunately our TV was not working and despite attempts to fix it by staff, it remained unbroken. We were finally offered another room but this was after 10pm and we felt it too late. We also weren't offered breakfast in bed which was supposed to be part of the deal.
The stay was pleasant, but could have been so much better, if only the hotel would pay a little bit more attention to the details.

I like the Bonham, but I do find it frustrating. The location, building and bedrooms are very good, and there is some on site parking if you arrive early enough.

Unfortunately, little things that should be givens are wrong. My wife had to come and find me to let me in from the car park as repeated attempts on the buzzer failed to raise anyone from reception. The downie on the bed was in the wrong size of cover, and not on the right way. There was only one toilet roll in the bathroom. Breakfast served in a haphazard fashion, with a total lack of enthusiasm for the young man serving. Indeed, inconsistent service from different members of staff in the restaurant, and a general feeling that they are working without any direction was evident throughout the short stay. All little things, but put together they take the edge of the overall experience, and suggest lack of management and supervision, which really is a pity in this elegant town house hotel.

One of the reasons I have come back in the past has been the innovative and well presented food, but this time even that was less good than on previous visits.

I will probably come back, but rather than just booking the Bonham next time I'll look to see what else takes my fancy, and decide then.

My wife and I stayed at the Bonham Hotel for a short break. We stayed there before and returned for a further stay due to our previous experience. The staff are outstanding - smart, friendly and caring - and they do all they can to make your stay a memorable experience. The accommodation is excellent and is very comfortable with beautiful views. You are about 5 minutes walk from the west end of Princess Street. The food is outstanding with a delightful full Scottish breakfast (mmmm...) and at dinner try the beef cheeks and salmon. It is outstanding.

Room Tip: Try the superior room.

Where to begin? We loved this hotel and stayed two nights. Four gals taking a break from family and work and The Bonham was a delight in our Scotland week. From check-in with super friendly and helpful Susannah to drinks served by the very amusing Louis (and everyone else there as pleasant as anyone could be) it created a perfect atmosphere. Relaxed and unstuffy but efficient and very professional. The lounges and restaurant were just great. They had the best wines we found in any establishment. The building is charming - used to be a dorm long ago, I think. It's set on the edge of the West End in a very lovely area that was quiet with lovely views. A pleasant 10 minute walk was all that we needed to reach the hubbub of touristy Edinburgh.
I cant say enough about how helpful the staff was - making recommendations, reservations, researching specific shops and their hours for us, calling taxis, early am wake up calls with room service breakfast with a smile at 5:45 AM - just great. The restaurant was very good. We had dinner once and two breakfasts.
I might be a tad critical of the beds - we had two rooms with twins in each and one of my pals referred to the beds as "wobbly tuffets" which was true to an extent but the bedding was very comfy. I happen to prefer a softer pillow so I offer this as a hint to management - time for a pillow renewals perhaps. Still though some comments have been made my others that they rooms were tired - we felt they were perfectly fine and HUGE and the bathrooms were enormous with big tubs and showers - just great. Spotlessly clean. We loved this hotel and would recommend it to anyone.

Room Tip: We had rooms 206 and 212 -twin rooms with wonderful light and views.

My husband had an early morning business meeting and work to do before it and the hotel forgot our 6am wake up call so we overslept.....a very bad start to the day.
The hotel is part of an imposing Victorian terrace in a lovely street about an 8 minute walk to the Edinburgh Castle end of Princes Street. (On the way you pass Affogato in Queensferry Street where they have great ice cream made on the premises, it's really good).
Back to the hotel, our room was on the third floor facing the front with a lovely view of the gardens and the top of the Episcopal Cathedral (a wonderful gothic building built in 1879 and worth a visit). The room was comfortable, functional and clean and had a very large bed. Although it faced the front is was quiet. The bathroom was tiny and had no extras such as a shower cap. We also missed a room safe.
Nice breakfast with very friendly, helpful staff in the dining room.
We had a lot of trouble with the Internet connection in the room which, in all fairness, the hotel took very seriously and did its best to remedy.
We would try the hotel again, but the missing wake up call and bad Internet connection was very inconvenient and that is why we haven't given it a higher rating.
