Go there. Enjoy it, but don't expect anything special. It's another road that has become highly commercialized. Fun to walk from the Palace to the Castle, but not much in between.

Everyday we walked the Royal Mile and everyday it was exhilarating and lots of fun! There are many attractions to visit on this street as well as restaurants, gift shops and interesting closes to wander down. See it in the morning light and then again in the early evening light-the view towards the water is great at dusk! Could not get enough of the Royal Mile! Loved it!

I was there for a morning walk. The most interesting part of the city. Lots of historical tips on signs on the wall!

The Royal Mile is the historic causeway of Edinburgh that connects Edinburgh Castle to Holyroodhouse. There is a lot of history on this mile and also a lot of tourist shops. There are great museums and buildings to pop in to as you walk. However, after about five of the shops you realize that they all have the exact same tourist souvenirs. I mostly walked this mile to get from one end to the other, but I think there are some good things to enjoy along the way.
