Lots of shops and restaurants to choose from and plenty of beautiful old buildings. A delightful walk.

From a consumer perspective, the Royal Mile is an amalgam of touristy souvenir shops, pubs and restaurants, and here and there, a quality vendor of specialty goods. It's definitely worth a stroll if only for the people-watching, but serious shoppers would probably do well to go elsewhere. At the least, buyers should come prepared with an idea of what goods should cost and the ability to judge quality--it seems like it would be easy to spend a lot on low-quality goods here.

But beyond the shops, the Royal Mile offers beautiful architecture steeped in history, and that alone makes it worth a look as you make your way from Holyrood to the castle.

It was all crowded and it was raining and blowing a gale so we did a fast trip downit. It all seems so commerialized and hectic not my thing.

I loved this street . Its great for little shops for buying bits . Its also great for food and drink . There is also lots of histrionic sights . It is buy far my favourite street in Edinburgh. On a sunny day its great to get a coffee and just sit and watch the world go by .

This is a great walk and while it is only a mile, it will take you hours, there is just so much to do and see. Great shopping, Great food. Wonderful History!
