“An interesting contrast to the older quarter”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 3, 2013

The New Town is a nice contrast to the older quarter around the castle - and a welcome break to shopping!

Lots of greenery and welcoming pubs/bars/restaurants.

“Gem of Georgian Architecture”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 24, 2013

Princes Street has really gone downhill but the streets to the north for some considerable distance are a monument to georgian archtecture. "New" is comparative since most of the buildings are from 1800 to 1820. The streets might look a little samey but look at the detail - there are departures from the majority. Queens Street Gardens is a large attractive patch in the middle.

“Edinburgh at its best”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 3, 2013

The New Town shows off some of the best parts of Edinburgh. Although far newer than the Old Town (obvious statement) it has ample history and some of the best shopping and eateries that the city has to offer.

“Beautiful”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 27, 2013

One of the best attractions in the UK. The New Town is an architecturally well-preserved (except Princes St, which is an utter disgrace) monument to 18th century town planning. The dolts who ran/run the beautiful city of Edinburgh have done their best to ruin part of the New Town over the last 5 years with the infamous, ongoing, grossly over-budget, poorly managed, unwanted, unnecessary and ridiculous tram project but away from these albeit extensive areas, it is still a marvellous feature.
