“Easy to navigate area of Edinburgh, magnificent architecture”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 14, 2013

So I was staying at The George Hotel during my time in Edinburgh, which is on the New Town side, and walked around that part of the city. Very wide roads, almost like a grid-style planning, and at the time the council or government were building a light rail-road for the trams I think. It looks more 'modern' than Old Town, but to me, it looks old because Australia where I'm from is actually younger than New Town if you consider European settlement in 1788. Anyway, just wanna say that it's a nice area to explore.

“The envy of Paris.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 10, 2013

The "posh" bit of Edinburgh with the usual stores selling the usual stuff.

That aside, Robert Louis Stevenson once said that Edinburgh was "the city Paris wished it was". And you can see why. The grand, wide thoroughfares terminating in large squares lined with Robert Adam architecture are every bit as imposing as Haussmann's Paris. The Tour Eiffel has nothing on Arthur's Seat!

“Really beautifully designed town.”

Really beautifully designed town. Originally designed by a 22 year old, James Craig, I was so impressed with the story behind this part of the city of Edinburgh.

“I used to live here”

Wonderful architecture and parts of it still look good despite the council trying to destroy it with Street Litter crap traffic management and anything else they can think of.
