Plenty of architecture and atmosphere, clean streets. Child friendly locals and helpful advice from locals.

“STUNNING AND ENCHANTING - WALK THROUGH HISTORY”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 12, 2013

What a stunning and unique place. You are actually, literally walking the streets of history. The architecture is amazing, make sure to explore every little shop, every doorway, walk down every close and look up! Lots to see above you!
Absolutely wonderful and enchanting place with a castle at one end and a palace at the other. Where else can you experience this? Wha's like us?

“Just Too Commercial”

and with too many vehicles. It needs to be pedestrian only to be bearable. How many woolen scarves can one look at? How many overpriced museums and tours? It's a shame.

“Lovely old town”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 10, 2013

Edinburgh's old town is a very nice and easy walk for the most part, except an area from Haymarket to the Royal Mile where the sidewalks became very narrow and traffic is busy, but aside from that it's fun to walk on the cobblestone streets and to see all the little individual shops and the old architecture along the way. Keep looking up at the buildings, there are lots of fun details above eye level! We took a bus tour the first day to get an overview of the town, then proceeded to walk it on our own afterwards, it's not too much in a day...

“A must do”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 9, 2013

Why would you go to Edinburgh and NOT do this? It is the heart of the city with the most history, the best architecture, and great people-watching. Just do it.
