once the Burgh (Town) Loch and rubbish dump, this was drained during the remaking of Edinburgh and is the play park for students and town folk alike. stretching across the South of the University's central campus, it is best approached from George IV Bridge, by the statute to Greyfriars Bobby and by Sandy Bell's and The Doctors (pubs), and onto North Meadow Walk where there are other refreshments (and a loo).

My favourite time of year in the Meadows is March/April, when the blossoms are out - it's magical. Fun, too, when the sun's out and it's full of students enjoying themselves. Good vibe.

It's just a field surrounded by the odd tree. The Meadows Festival's all-but-gone, and don't get me started on how disappointing Taste was this year! Why you cannot park on the main road through it, is a total mystery to me.

On the 'down side'. Rather a lot of females get attacked in both parts of The Meadows.

Bongos. tightropes. Acoustic Guitars. Horrible students. Neds. Sweaties. Really bad. I'd tell you where to go instead but it's a bit of an unspoilt paradise and it's just for me and my mates. Sorry but you'll have to find it yourself. Hint - it's a park in Edinburgh with free wi-fi.

This is a really good park for children to have loads of space just to run about but also they have plenty of constructed play materials and a small beach to enjoy. The history of the reclamation of the space is very interesting with good displays to inform you and the ranger service is excellent for learning more about the countryside.Dogs have their own exercise area and plenty of pcnic/barbecue areas. This is a well used local facility an dalso attracts visitors from further afield, especially for watersports of all kinds which are excellent.
