Beautiful park area can be visited on way to or from Edinburgh Castle. It is across the street from Waverly train station and goes a long way along Princes Street. The Scott Monument is the main centerpiece of architecture here and it is very impressive with its detailed carving.
Worth visiting.

These gardens/park is situated on Prince Street its a beautiful garden to walk through, either for a short cut or just take in its beauty. From the middle of these gardens if you look up you get a fantastic view of Edinburgh Castle & there is a beautiful fountain in the middle too. You will also find a statue of a baby elephant this represents a place where people can come and lay flowers and reflect on their babies that have gone to heaven

Edinburgh market is situated here in December, a must do! Nice atmosphere, busy, security all around, carnival rides, markets, food stalls, Santa and things good for kids. Also nice in summer too for a walk around.

Had a wander through the Bavarian Village on Christmas Eve afternoon. Not too crowded and lots of stalls to see. Most of them selling food and drink. Actually did feel Christmassy. Had a magnificent pulled pork bun and a hot gluevine..[probably wrong spelling] which was lovely. Prices not too bad. Eventually ended up in Thor's tipi bar, so called because its two huge wigwams put together. Great place. Log fire in the middle, good efficient friendly staff. Had a pint, but then had Thor's hot toddy. Half a pint of a mixture that included vodka and many other things. It was gorgeous. Very strong. Pity this bar is only here for Christmas.
