We were lucky enough to visit during the Christmas/New Year break, when the German markets, ice skating rink and decorations were happening. This place was really enjoyable, with terrific warm foods and mulled wine available and plenty of rides for young and old alike. It lovely to sit back on the park bench and watch the ice skaters enjoying this festive atmosphere. And the view of Edinburgh Castle lit up at night from the top of the ferris wheel was spectacular! Made for a relaxing and enjoyable time after the hustle and bustle in the nearby shops.

What's NOT to like about Prince's street? It has every shop you could want; the Castle as the back drop and when you have maxed out your card (or feet), the cafes and restaurants are all just around the corner. Brilliant!

A very clean and family friendly park grounds with a spectacualr view of the castles. Small stalls on the summer and (None summer months) Ideally located for a short stroll through between shopping and touring breaks. The park has plenty rubbish bins and seating for those that like a picnic! We loved it here!

We go here often for a picnic lunch on the grass, or to shop and eat at the German Market which takes place during the Festival, and at Christmas and other holiday peak times. The Gardens have all comforts and facilities (conveniences, grass banks, floral displays, benches, bandstands). It gets a bit noisy when pop groups occupy the bandstand and audiences throng around!
The German Market offers countless bargains in crafts, fabrics, and especially food - meaty burgers and snacks to take away or eat on the spot - with most varieties of soft drinks on hand.

Chillax in the gardens and feed the pigeons and very friendly grey squirrels who inhabit the gardens . A walk here is well worth it and the Scott memorial with its 287 steps to the top a challenge .
