We really enjoyed visiting the Britannia, didn't think I would enjoy it so much! Loved seeing the homely rooms "up top" for the Royal family and also the quarters below decks for the crew. It was decorated beautifully for Christmas and there were lovely touches with the stockings hung up for Santa! There are also some fun and poignant pictures in most of the rooms. Liked the wealth of information supplied via handsets too. We had morning tea and cakes in the restaurant...mmmm! Staff were so helpful and ready to answer any questions or take photos, brilliant. We caught the number 22 bus to Ocean Terminal which is a good service but you need to have the exact money (£3 in our case) and don't give change so be prepared! All in all a great day out.

We are delighted to hear that your visit exceeded your expectations and that you enjoyed seeing the yacht decorated for Christmas. Thank you for your lovely comments about the staff – everyone is passionate about delivering an exceptional experience for all of our visitors so they will be thrilled to read your review. As you say, the no.22 takes the quickest route to Ocean Terminal from Princes Street and costs £1.50 each way. Many thanks for visiting.

What a result! Who would ever have thought you would get on to the Britannia a bit of good old English history. If only she could talk what stories she could tell.

Very well organised the cafe was excellent although a little expensive but to say you had a coffee on board a must service is exquisite. The information on board and difference in decks and where the staff lived was amazing. One could imagine the fun the young royals had running round the boat decks. The outboard boats alone would be fine for me.

The cost was excellent value.

Wonderful to hear that you had such a truly enjoyable time on board and that you found the experience to be such good value for money. It sounds like you particularly enjoyed seeing the contrast between the Royal Apartments and the Crew’s Quarters. Many thanks for visiting and taking the time to share your five-star review.

we spent a good day out visiting the Royal Yacht Britannia from Edinburgh, take the Majestic bus.
All decks were visited and were extremely interesting with many photos of various members of the Royal Family. Instruments and charts used on the yacht.were also available. Lunch on board was good value for money and there were very friendly staff to assist. The shop was stocked well and more reasonable than other 'Roya'l shops. Well done to the Trust which runs the attraction.

We are delighted to hear that you had such a good time exploring Britannia’s five decks. The Majestic tour bus is a great tip for other visitors looking to sightsee the city en route to Britannia. Lovely to hear that you had some time to enjoy some lunch in the Royal Deck Tea Room. Many thanks for visiting while you were in Edinburgh.

Enjoyed seeing the yacht and having lunch on board. There were no lines due to the time of year (Nov) but leave yourself time to see everything. The insight into Royal life was interesting and the staff are very helpful.

An excellent addition to the tour itinerary while you're in Scotland's capital. A short bus ride from the centre, but well worth it. A museum tour before you go on board gives a history of the boat, along with some intimate photos of the royal family, and then you move to the ship herself.

She is decked out as she would have been when she was used to tour the world, and, again, offers some surprising insights into the life of the Queen and her family.

Unlike some other similar trips - London's HMS Belfast, for example - there are no trickily steep stairwells to contend with, as you disembark after each floor, go down a level and embark again, something that shows how much thought has gone into making this a tourist attraction. Excellent value for money too, and make sure to stop for a cup of tea on the sun deck before you leave.

Thank you for taking the time to share such an informative review. It sounds like you had a truly wonderful time exploring Britannia. As you say, we are just a short bus ride from the city centre – the no.22 is usually the quickest and takes around 20 minutes. Thank you for your kind comments about our accessibility – we have worked hard to ensure that every visitor gets the most from their time on board which is why we have lifts between every deck and plenty of seating on the tour route. Many thanks for visiting and awarding your visit with five-stars on TripAdvisor.
