“An Oasis of calm”
Reviewed December 18, 2010

We had decided to take a short break in Edinburgh and stumbled across the Boatel as a place to stay. Cam (the owner) was lovely and met us on arrival having already decorated the boat with a christmas tree, poinsetta along with all the other standard bits you could possibly want from robes to honesty bar, to foot spa's .......the list could go on and on. So impressed were we with the general level of comfort and relaxing ambience that we did not leave the barge for the first day!!!! Even in the post snow freezing weather (including a solidly frozen canal!!!) the barge was lovely and cosy.
The only slight issue was the club that was behind the barge and the noise level on saturday night but was a minor annoyance in an otherwise perfect stay.
Would whole heartedly recommend this hotel as somewhere entirely unique and special

What a special place to stay in Edinburgh - luxury canal boat right in the heart of twon, next to bars, restaurants, etc. first class, personal service from owner Mrs McLaclan. why go for a holiday inn when you can be sole guests in somewhere totally unique? S&J

We recently stayed on this unique boatel and had an amazing time. There is everything you require and so much more. I cannot recommend this highly enough. This central located boatel has everything you could possibly need to enjoy a stay in the capital. Don't go to hotel go to the Boatel !!!!!!

The four sisters was one of the places we stayed on a trip to Scvotland, and as soon as we saw it, we wished we had spent the entire time there. Its unique, very comfortable and right in the centre of everything Edinburgh has to offer. There isn't a single thing that hasn't been thought of, fabulously we equipt kitchen, honesty bar, tv in every room; this is not roughing it by any stretch. Again just wished our stay was longer.

Chosen as a treat for my husbands 40th, the Four Sisters wouldn't normally be my choice for a luxury break - but how wrong I was! On arrival, we were met by Mrs Mclachlan, the owner, who was lovely. When she left, she gave us her personal mobile number, so that we could contact her immediately if there were any problems, but there weren't! Mrs Mclachlan has taken everyone's needs into consideration on the boat and we didn't want for anything at all! Aside from the luxurious interior, she has also supplied little extra touches throughout that are just great and make you feel really special. Apart from that, the Four Sisters is in a prime location for exploring Edinburgh on foot [as we did], but is also close to public transport, if required. There's a cashpoint and a well stocked supermarket nearby. Despite being in central Edinburgh, the boat was extremely quiet - which was surprising and we had a great nights sleep in our comfortable cabin. All in all, my husband and I had a brilliant time and we'll definately come back - but for longer next time! Highly recommended and we'd give her six stars if we could!

What a place to stay. Less than 10 minutes from Edinburgh Castle but in a little oasis of calm water in the middle of the city. The boat is beautifully maintained and comfortable. It is modern and clean. There is everything you would possibly want or need, right down to fold-up macs (in case you forgot to bring one) to dressing gowns and slippers to a garlic press to disposable nappies. Everything is thought of and catered for. The beds you could sink into they are so comfortable. The location is perfect, no need for taxis, there is even a Tesco around the corner for any essentials not thought of by the owner. Strongly recommended.
