“Warm welcome, comfortable room and great breakfast”
Reviewed January 25, 2014

My husband and I stayed at the Culane House Hotel for 3 nights for a combined business and pleasure trip as I was presenting research at a conference in Edinburgh. The experience couldn't have been more positive from the first warm welcome and friendly chat with Kenny until we left. The staff were so cheerful and keen to help. On the morning of the conference they offered a special early breakfast for me without needing to be asked and the taxi they booked even arrived early! The breakfast was delicious with a buffet and cooked breakfast available and it was an unexpected pleasure to be so well catered for as a vegan. Our room was very comfortable and clean and having free wifi was a real bonus. We would definitely stay again and not hesitate in recommending it to others.

The hotel is under two miles from Edinburgh City centre, which my wife and I find ideal as we like a walk and the walk is both pleasurable and interesting. If you don't like walking, there are plenty of buses to and from the city. We thought our room was spacious and comfortable and the breakfast excellent. You could not fault the pleasantness of helpful nature of the young man on reception and we would certainly stay there again if we were visiting Edinburgh. It also benefits from having plenty of eating places nearby.

This hotel, which is more like a B & B, is very good. We stayed on the top floor
and the room has good size. Also were there 2 chairs and a table. The breakfast is very good.
The staff is very polite and friendly and can help you with all your questions.
The location was even better then I thought. Bus line 12 and 25 stop right in front of the hotel and take you to the city centre, in 13 min or so.
Bus 35 is just around the corner and takes you to Holyrood House in 8 min. And the other way towards the Royal Yacht Britannia at the Ocean Terminal.
Parking is easy and safe at street side
Really a top location in Edinburgh.
One point of attention is perhaps the shower, which was good but the water coujld have been bit more powerfull.
need to say that the room and the bathroom were all VERY clean !!!

Room Tip: Choose room at the top of the hotel. You need to climb some stairs but it is nice and quiet

Stayed one night, very good welcome when we arrived. the best thing about the b&b was the room, had everything you need.. Breakfast was ok, service at the breakfast could of been better, very snappy, clueless at times. Overall its a good, clean b&b.

My husband and I stayed here for two nights in room 4 on the first floor. We paid £60 per night which included breakfast. The room was small, the bed queen size and was against the window with just enough room to get a cabinet either side. Though nicely decorated a little attention to detail is needed e.g. electric socket hanging off the wall, grouting around the shower black and the toilet seat required fastening on. The shower room was small, nicely tiled but disappointing not to find a bath. The room included a wardrobe which had been squeezed into an alcove and their was a small unit which housed coffee making facilities which were replenished daily. Overall every available space had been used within the room.
The breakfast was plentiful with lots of choice from cereals, pastries to a full cooked breakfast with all the trimmings. The location is excellent for the buses and a day ticket is £3.50 into the City which was excellent value.
Overall this was a good value B&B

My Girlfriend and I spent afew days in the B&B and we can both honestly say that we felt so welcome by the amazing staff. We arrived early (8am) to the B&B and were greeted by a friendly gentleman (Kenny) who showed us to our room. After we had settled in our room we asked if he could suggest any places for breakfast as we were hungry and cold, and Kenny being a absolute gentleman, offered to make us some breakfast even though it was after breakfast time. I cannot say enough good things about the staff of the B&B,they were amazing and really helped to make your stay a great experience, which it was :)

The rooms were clean and very comfortable.

Will highly recommend this place to all my friends who are travelling to Edinburgh and will be back for sure. Thanks again for having us :)

My partner and I stayed here for a couple of nights mid week last month. Location is ideal, we wanted to be in the city but in a b&b, which doesn't appear to be an option so with this being on the bus route it's the next best thing. Rooms were nicely decorated but a little tired/sloppy round the edges. The service was very good, the young guy who was working there for the whole of our stay really went the extra mile to help us with advice on buses/maps&directions, even looking some things up online for us. He was also very accommodating getting our room ready early and despite an error (my fault!) with the booking. Cooked breakfast was English and pretty average although the continental buffet on offer alongside it was extensive. What did seem a little odd was that the young guy was having to kip on the breakfast room floor of an evening to be on call to open the front door for guests, as the outer door was locked (guests only had a porch door key) later into the evening. He could've been happy with that for all I know as he certainly didn't complain (we noticed the blanket as we went up to our room) but it's certainly the first time I've come across something like that in a b&b. All in all, average priced for what I could find, and average b&b with good service.
