“Poor service”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 28, 2013 via mobile

Visited here early on a Saturday evening. It was relatively quiet for the first hour that we were there, but staff still couldn't cope, with it taking at least 20mins for drinks to be brought to the table! They were sitting on a tray waiting on someone bringing them over, though when we asked a member of staff for them he still didn't retrieve them then! Also, seemed to be a lot of food on the menu that they didn't have left. The food when it came was of a good quality, with generous portion sizes (cheese and bacon burger). However, the slow service would definitely put me off returning here.

“good party night”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 27, 2013

went here for a burns night celebration on 26th jan
it was reasonable value at £25 each for a 3 course meal then a celeigh with live musicians
the food was o.k and a drink when you arrived was a good start

they did a full toast to the haggis with a piper which was great

only a couple of small issues - was the staff were a bit slow in getting out meals and bringing drinks etc and after the meal they moved some tables and there was not enough chairs for people to sit on but this was not a major problem

the night went well and people enjoyed the meal and the dancing

this was our first time there but if we are in edinburgh again we will check what is on there

“Very nice”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 26, 2013

Lovely big building with fairy lights outside.
Inside it is set out and decorated to a high standard, lots of booths and space and a very nice atmosphere.
We didn't eat here but the menu looked very nice so it is on our list if we come again.
The toilets were lovely and fresh (strange thing to comment on, but I am quite fussy with public toilets!)

“A place full of character and good food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 23, 2013

Have been here a few times with business folks and always had great food, service can be a bit slow even when not busy but the novelty factor of the "beer hatch light' is something most don't forget and it now seem to be that when anyone comes from out of town that they want to go here. Food has always been great and not too expensive. Will be back for leisure and business. I also want to try one of the ceilidh nights!!

“Fun time and good food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 23, 2013

A group of us came for the Friday night Celidh during our girls weekend, and this place did not disappoint. Nice food (come hungry--- portions are big!) and great vibe. Dancing was a blast, and music was great too. Drinks were a bit pricey, but that tends to be par for course. A fun time!!
