Nice little place, quite small but nice. We arrived just as they opened for evening service. It was a bit chilly and the menu was pretty tatty and had no pictures, which can be useful if your not sure what your ordering! Apart from that, the food was lovely! Really enjoyed it, we had sushi and some hot food and I enjoyed both.

I've been to Oishi many many times. It's simply an amazing place to eat. Katsua happily serves up the freshest, tastiest sushi I've ever had. Staff are always friendly and helpful. My wife took her mother, who is very well travelled and a sushi maniac, on Saturday and created a new addict. If I could, I'd eat here almost every day. The whole menu is great but I particularly recommend the salmon sashimi and nigiri, prawn tempura and karrage. Miso soup is delicious, unlike any I've had.

Some of the best gyoza around, great sashimi and a chef who actually knows what he's doing :)

Staff are always friendly and they do some great lunchtime take away deals too.

Just bear in mind this is a very small restaurant - big groups don't work and if it's busy then it can be a bit chaotic, but that's just the charm of the place. And Katsuo (the owner) is a great laugh - if he's in you know you're in for a good chat and superb food!

A great little place. Katsua, the sushi chef makes the best sushi and well he should as he's the real deal, a fully trained Japanese chef. The fish is fresh and the rice warm, made to order... lovely! Where the idea that he or his waiter are anything but friendly comes from I don't know; start either of them chatting and there's no shutting them up! Katsua's been making me sushi for a dozen years since he had his noodle bar, Tampopo, in Thistle street. The range of fish is wide, from eel to sea bream, tuna to flying fish roe. Tempura vegetables or seafood delicious. Ramen or yakatori, you name it all great! After a good lunch for three I had change from £40, an even better lunch for two was £34 and a very, very good lunch (death by nigiri, ramen and tempura) yesterday was £44 for two.

Went here for the second time (went before about 18 months ago) and was a little disappointed. Firstly a family with two boys sat down into their booked table and were told they couldn't stay due to the license they had. Not too sure why as they hadn't ordered any booze! Secondly we were served by a Spanish waiter and i think the chef was Irish! The food was still nice but it somehow lacked the authenticity and quirkiness it had the last time. What a shame.
