“Amazing fish & chips!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 16, 2013

Lovely, friendly pub on the High Street. We felt really comfortable here and could've stayed all afternoon. The staff were really friendly and helpful and the food was delicious! The fish & chips were ordered came wrapped in paper with a pickled onion - perfect! They were so good.

Really would recommend this place for a stop-off to refuel on a touristy walk around the Old Town.

“Good value friendly pub”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 28, 2013

Called in here on a cold Sunday evening. Very friendly staff. Decent selection of cask ale. Standard food menu but Mrs E. thought her clansmen burger was above average. My steak & ale pie was excellent with fresh veg and crispy chips.

If you are looking for fine dinning then NO.1 is not the place for you , If you are looking for good honest food and ambiance then NO.1 is most deffinatly the place for you , fish and chips served in paper and a hearty pickle on the side , lets not forget the choice of great ales , well worth a visit , I'll be back .

“Stear clear of this place!!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 19, 2012

Service absolutely terrible. Not aloud to sing in the pub, bar woman smashed drink all over my aunt by accident yet she still had to pay for it!! Waited over half an hour on a breckfast for them to serve us with raw out of date sausage, half cooked eggs with egg shells through them, cold coffee by the time breckfast came and a waiter that couldnt even crack a smile. Over charged for extra food that we never even got. Most orders sent back. They charge an appauling £1.50 for one single slice of toast (hard white bread) that got sent bak twice to make brown and still came back white. Got a sorry for the inconvenience but nothing was even taken off the bill for raw out of date sausage or half cooked eggs full of shell. Service was absolutely shocking would never go back!!! They should have paid us money for trying to feed us that "food" not the other way about. Daylight robbery only thing missing was the guy in a balaclava!!
