“Fantastic Food & Service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 28, 2013

I cannot fault Cucina at all. The dining experience from start to finish was exceptional. I have a number of dietary requirements when eating out & Cucina were so accommodating with all my needs.

Service throughout was perfect. The menu is fantastic & I can't wait to go back again. I have recommended Cucina to everyone I know.

One of the best places to eat in Edinburgh.

“Enjoyable Meal”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 28, 2013

We hadn't intended to eat here but couldn't get any of our usual restaurants booked on a Saturday night between shows during the Festival (our own fault for being slow off the mark!). The rating is really for the food which was delicious - cured pork cheek to start with a very nice home made tagliatelle (cooked to a perfect al dente texture) with a pork ragu. Our bill for 4 was £200 which was mainly down to the two bottles of nice but ordinary wine which we had. I personally think the wine list here is overpriced. We couldn't find anything under about £23 and whilst I appreciate Missoni is a design hotel and is slap bang in tourist central, this is not a Michelin starred restaurant. The only other negative, which I think has been mentioned by a previous reviewer, was that the music was at the same loud volume as in the bar downstairs and made conversation across the large table a little difficult.

“Elegant lunch”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 27, 2013

We ate here for lunch for the second time in a month. They do a 2 or 3 course 'special' lunch but both times we had to specifically ask for this menu as on neither occasion were we handed it. The lunch special is very good value for money. Fairly small portions, but perfectly adequate and delicious. The surroundings are stylish as one would expect from Missoni. There is small terrace, which is a lovely al fresco dining environment weather permitting. Service was slow and we had to ask several times for drinks before they arrived.

“Cucina 2 Course Lunch £15.95”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 27, 2013

We went for lunch yesterday afternoon Monday 25th August to Missoni Hotel we sat outside which was very pleasant as the outside eating place is fully enclosed by other buildings so no traffic smells. There were only four outside tables which all filled up very quickly. Service to begin with went well but we had a clinch with our main courses with took an exceptionally long time, people who arrived at the same time as us had eaten and had coffee and our main meal had not arrived. The waiter was very apolgetic and did take something off the bill . If this hadn't happened I would have given it full marks as the food was excellent

“Best Italian food in Edinburgh, noisy though”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 26, 2013

I have been here lots of times and have always had excellent meals. Risottos change frequently, the saffron version this time was superb. Aubergine ravioli with pine nuts was really intensely flavoured. Fried courgette sticks are just addictive. The sommelier's choice is always very interesting - for 60 GBP a head you get a prosecco cocktail to start and then matched glasses of wines for starter, main course and dessert.
The only reason I marked Cucina down to 4 stars rather than 5 is that the music from the bar downstairs was really loud and a bit intrusive, this was the first time I had experienced this though so I hope it was an aberration.
