We decided to go in for a spot of lunch since we were in the area and the bill board enticed us to have a closer look at the spacial 2 or 3 course meal for £11.00 and £13.50 respectively.

A table was immediately found for us and a food and wine menu were presented. Our order was taken and shortly a waiter appeared with a bread basket and the olive oil bowl was filled. He explained the bread choices and gave us the origin of the olive oil.

I had the polenta and mushroom starter, my husband had the muscles - both delicious. I had the manzo to follow and he had the penne ragú. The portions were just right and the food well prepared and presented. Would we stretch to a sweet? We both had pears with amaretto jelly and honey ice cream. Could not fault it.

Throughout the meal staff kept an eye on things but did so with elegance and discretion. The service was attentive but not overly fussy which we like.

Ian had a glass of Montepulcianon di Abruzzo which did not taste like any M.d.A. we have tasted before and we wondered if a mistake had been made but didn't make a fuss as it wasn't that big a deal.

We would go back again based on that experience.

A taste of Italian fine dining in the heart of Edinburgh's old town. The restaurant welcomes non residents to experience authentic dishes with great flavours and twists orchestrated by an Italian head Chef.
The sommelier will pair your wine with the food on request and the staff looked after me like a guest.
Relax and finish your evening with a fun cocktail at the bar. I can't wait to go back!

This is the second visit to Cucina for dinner and the service is exceptional. All the staff from reservations to waiting staff are so friendly and professional and they are extremely knowledgeable about the food and wine. Simply the best Italian restaurant in Edinburgh and we will most certainly return.

We needed somewhere to go for a quick lunch before a wedding, and Cucina didn't disappoint. An impossible menu to choose from, so many yummy things. The food was served quickly and was delicious. A good choice!

We regularly have lunch at Cucina when in Edinburgh and have been doing so since it first opened. The food is simple, innovative and Italian. A recent lunch of the freshest mussels in a rich tomato broth, a tranch of Hake served on Puy lentils with parsley, and a poached pear served on an intense jelly base with honeycomb ice cream was outstanding. A very interesting and comprehensive, mainly Italian, wine list. Prosecco is available on draught!
The quality of the food and wine are complemented by exemplary service which, while remaining totally professional, is friendly, welcoming and helpful. Consistency is something a lot of restaurants fail to deliver. Cucina has never disappointed.
