Owner description: The market has been open every Sunday from 10am-5pm from 11th September 2011, and trades year round. It's a foodie heaven and hosts the best street food in Edinburgh, so whether you're looking for something special for supper, a continental style lunch, or planning a dinner party - the Stockbridge Market will have some new produce for you to try. How about some olives as an aperitif, quality meat or fish with locally grown vegetables, followed by a selection of French cheeses and nutty brown bread, and finish things off with some traditional crepe suzettes or 'latest craze' macaroons or home baked cakes.....Or local jams, cakes and lots of crafts to take home as pressies!!! Eat, meet, great or treat there's something here for everyone, a truely wonderful experience

I had a pulled pork roll and my life was changed forever. We also grabbed some cupcakes (caramel > bounty if you're a cupcake connoisseur), and a tasty bakery treat. You have to go there to experience it for yourself and see what appeals to you. The stallholders were really lovely people.

Sunday afternoon in SUNNY ( that's not a misprint) Edinburgh we enjoyed a visit to Stockbridge market today. Superb quality vendors and a really nice feel. Bread maker is amazing as is the chocolatier. They ALL were in our judgement. Recommended

Sunday afternoon. Town centre? Want something to do? Then head down to the bridge of Stockbridge. Just south, a tiny square, home to a really nice foodie market. Cheeses from all over the place, including Scotland. Game pies (one stall sells tiny ones to munch at £1 each), organic meat, sausages, vegetables (often still muddly - wonderful), soaps, community cider (a village pools it's apple crop, and the product is not at all bad). Elsewhere, stalls selling hot food (you might need it), wonderful bread, and so on. It's a mostly wealthy part of town, so don't expect bargains. Lovely atmosphere, and lots of locals chatting. In summer, has a midweek opening too. And if you feel like a really spectacular walk before or afterwards, head west along the river bank to the Dean Gorge. Market opens at 1pm ish, closes more or less around 5pm.

The Stockbridge Market is a lovely example of community coming together. It's so nice seeing the market stalls selling their wares every Sunday, with music and laughter in the air. There's fresh game during game season, fresh fish, and lovely local crafts and bakes.

It's the perfect place to discover the best of what eating in Edinburgh is all about, with artisan bread, cheese, coffee, ice cream, soap, chutney... you name it!

The only issue is the price of most of the products. It's a very posh market. Unless you're feeling really flush, or want to give yourself a special treat, you'll probably walk away empty handed.

Still, it's a great place to wander round on a lazy Stockbridge Sunday.

I've been in Edinburgh for 2 months now and I have visited the Stockbridge market about 4 times. While some of the products may seem pricy, you're paying for the quality featured at this market. I recommend pre-setting a budget for your market trip and sticking to it, or else you may find yourself spending more than anticipated on the lovely treats.

I particularly recommend the gourmet marshmallows and the hand-made shortbread stalls. It is also useful to know that some stalls feature bi-weekly. If you want to support local entrepreneurs, this market is the place to go on a Sunday afternoon. Enjoy!
