I stayed here with my 11-year old daughter and her friend. The staff are absolute gems. They tackle every issue with humor and efficiency. There are many options for breakfast, and the cooked food is served steaming hot. Dietary requirements are met without hassle. Everything is clean and the beds are very good.

We visited Edinburgh in July and wanted to stay in the city but not at a large chain hotel. The Queens Guest House had the high end feel of a large hotel but the character of a small inn. The family room in the lower level was very comfortable and spacious for 2 adults and 2 teens. The location was great and while there was no parking, there was public car park 4 blocks away at St James Place -- you dont need your car in Edinburgh.

Room Tip: Lower level family room

Great location but if you want a truly Scottish welcome, this is not the place to find it.
Breakfast is not up to the wonderful Scottish breakfasts we have experienced in other Edinburgh B&B's. On day one my husband's food arrived 30 minutes before mine!!
This is not run by the owner but by friendly European staff who appeared to have had little training.
Room 4, in the basement, was like being in a nuclear bunker with a small patch of sky only visible with nose pressed to the window, which looked onto a small, artificially turfed yard. The brown furnishings didn't help.
Probably better suited to families than couples.

Room Tip: Avoid the basement

We traveled 3 countries and this was the best of all! Mainly due to the friendliness and service from the staff. We talked with several staff for various reasons and all were warm, friendly and very accommodating! They were so kind to leave us breakfast for a early morning tour we'd booked and also a to go breakfast the day we were flying out! The one bad thing I will say is the bed I slept on was hard, not firm mattress, but board hard. I hope they will be able to improve that for others. I was only there 3 nights so I lived with it. The room and bath was very roomy and clean. Bath was great too! Location for walking was great. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again, with a new mattress of course.

Room Tip: Note our room faced the front, which I loved, but didn't think about the pub closers when leaving my windows open. Loved the windows open but didn't love the singing and loud talking from those late nighter's.

Great location and staff very friendly and accommodating. Beds very comfy (even the extra bed they brought in the room after we checked in). It has a more of a "hotel" feel than a true B&B (the owners don't live and work there), but it is still a very comfortable place to stay. The breakfasts were delicious (some reviews disagreed). There was some confusion about our reservation but the manager made it right quickly. Our bathroom was very updated and roomy. Our room was very spacious and clean. Highly recommend.
