“A true gem, the perfect place to stay.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 6, 2009

Just got back from a great trip to Edinburgh made truly memorable by the very warm welcome received from Sue at Six Brunton Place. The moment we were greeted at the door and stepped inside we felt immediately at home. The accommodation is simply stunning and very comfortable, the breakfast is both beautifully presented and delicious and it is obvious that a huge amount of effort and attention to detail has gone into making this a truly delightful and first class guest house. We look forward to appreciating Sue's hospitality again in the future, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this gem to anyone.

Flawless service & amazingly decorated. I was on R&R military leave from Afghanistan and wanted to make my short holiday especially memorable for my wife and sons (7 & 16yrs old). Six Brunton Place was just the ticket--absolutely fantastic stay in every respect; Sue was extraordinarily friendly and responsive to our every need. The room (the garden suite) was jaw-droppingly gorgeous and the generous, hot breakfast was a delicious feast. Six Brunton may cost a bit more, it's worth every cent! Check it out for yourself...you & your significant other will be glad you did.

Situated 10 mins stroll from Arthur's Seat and Holyrood Palace and only 15 mins from the start of the Royal Mile it is in a great location.Parking across the road opposite was very handy indeed and not expensive(free at w/end).
Sue ,the owner could'nt have been more helpful, even paying for my parking. The room we stayed in was large with 2 large, boiling hot radiators,a gorgeous en-suite bathroom, sky with ALL channels,a great comfy bed. There is a lovely garden at the rear with table and chairs.
We think this a very chic ,modern B/B with service that you will not find in a far more supposedly up-market hotel,we have stayed in lots of 4 star hotels that are beaten hands down by this accomodation.
After 3 nights we didnt really want to leave,we were so well looked after,we WILL be back.

OK it is not the cheapest place, I have to admit that! But if you really are looking for a very special place to stay, whether for business reasons or to celebrate your anniversary , you won´t regret booking a room (there are four) here, that´s for sure! My friend and I found this lovely guesthouse in the internet by accident. As we arrived right from the start we were so impressed not only by the very stylish and yet so comfortable way, everything is decorated and taken care of. Moreover, our very friendly and outgoing host Sue and her partner Mike, as well as the two kids, just do everything ( I mean it!!) to make sure that you´ll have all that you need for a relaxing and joyable stay! Six Brunton Place is very old and Sue -being an architect- renovated the whole place so that there are very old fire places in the rooms on the one hand, but everything is as modern as can be on the other (and she loves that as you can tell as you stay there). We came over from Germany for a short trip to see the town of Edinburgh and ended up in thinking that we should have added an extra day just to enjoy the warm, friendly and also very luxurious atmosphere of Six Brunton Place, which is in reach of the city centre. My room had a lovely garden view, it was very quiet, the bathroom was absolutely modern and stylish designed and offered everything I needed, as well as everything else (from very thick towels to technique, flat screen television e.g., matress to the decoration to-last not least- what I always enjoy in GB: the tea and coffee making facilities which, in this case, included selfmade cookies and on and on and on! And also I have to mention the breakfast which offered lots of different kinds of fresh fruits as well as the typical Scottish breakfast; including self baked bread!
In real you´ll find everything just as you see it on the SBP homepage! The thing that you cannot see, though but will experience is the very warm welcome and being taken care of of Sue and her family.
i´ll definitely will return and without any doubt can recommend this place!!!

we, (myself and wife) have stayed in very few B&Bs due to a bad experience many years ago. i had difficulty getting a hotel room in the centre of edinburgh for the weekend we were going. i found a B&B called "six brunton place" the place is that good i joined trip advisor so i could let you all know how good it is. it is not cheap but it is the best accomodation i have stayed in for many years. from the minute we got there, a great friedly welcome from the owner "sue", nothing was any trouble for her. the room was fantastic. there is a small enclosed garden at the rear. the room we stayed in was immaculate, big, light, warm, clean, tea making facilities, big tv with loads of channels, ipod docking thing, settee, a small table and chairs, i could go on. the bathroom was what you would normally see in a design magazine, huge shower, huge bath, heated floor, heated mirror with lights,( i played with that a lot the lights and heater came on when you moved your hand over a sensor). it is very quiet at night. then breakfast again brilliant, all locally sourced and fresh.
