“Luxurious & Charming”
Reviewed October 26, 2013

We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at Six Brunton Place. Sue and Mike were so accommodating. Between my food allergies and my husband feeling under the weather, we felt we were treated with tender loving care!. The house is beautiful, the room luxurious, everything was perfect. Located in the heart of Edinburgh we were able to walk everywhere. Only ten minutes walk from the ScotlandsPeople Centre where I was doing family history research, yet close to many restaurants. Thank you!!

Thank you so much for staying with us recently, it was such a pleasure to meet you both. Thank you, too, for writing about your experience, and we are extremely touched by your kind words.

I am so glad that you enjoyed your time here, despite your husband regrettably feeling under the weather for some of your visit. At least I guess it worked out well for you that we are located so close to the Peoples Centre for ancestry research.

I hope that you will come and see us again sometime, that would be wonderful.

With very best wishes to you both,

Sue

This B&B is such a gem. The rooms are modern but retain the character of
a 200 year old building. I find it every bit as comfortable as a 5 star hotel but far more
interesting and personal. It is exactly what I want in a trip...quality, cleanliness, and something very special unlike anywhere else I've ever been.
Sue and Mike are just the best.

Room Tip: The Regent for sure has a huge bathtub if you prefer that, as well as a glass walk-in shower.

It was so wonderful to see you both again. We are so happy that you had time on your schedule to once again stay with us, and am glad that you enjoyed your time here once more.

It was great to catch up with you since your last stay, and I am glad that you made it to St Andrews! It would be so great to see you once more sometime in the not too distant future, and perhaps the 'boys' can once again play golf!

With very best wishes to you both,

Sue.

What can I say that hasn't already been said? This is truly a silver service B&B. Thank you so much Sue for your wonderful attention to detail and warm, caring hospitality. It was quite an indulgent experience from the elegant furnishings, fine wine and home cooking. We felt thoroughly spoiled and will remember our stay in Edinburgh for a long time to come. Many, many thanks

We had three nights to attend a wedding and spend some time in Edinburgh and couldn't have had a more comfortable or welcoming place to stay. Nothing was too much trouble for the wonderful Sue who always seemed to be on hand to offer tea, coffee, homemade cake or wine. Her breakfasts were outstanding from beautiful fruit salad to excellent locally baked bread to a full Scottish plateful of bacon and eggs with all the extras. And all this in a beautifully restored late Georgian house sympathetically decorated and adorned with a collection of modern art.

We had 3 nights again at this wonderful Guest House, our first visit was last December and it was amazing, so we visited again!
We had the Playfair room which isn't very big but suits us fine.
Welcomed on arrival with coffee and home made biscuits, home made flapjacks, chocolate and every drink you could need in your room, along with fresh water.
Breakfast brilliant, Sue is the loveliest person you could wish to stay with, and Mike is a great bloke too!
We drove this time and parked opposite the house for £4 a day, but everywhere is pretty much walkable. We were a gentle 10 min stroll to the Edinburgh Playhouse, where we had concert tickets, so perfect location for that too.
Hope to go back again............................. x

Room Tip: All lovely rooms!

There is a reason why Six Brunton Place is rated #1. The hospitality is "unmatched"! The location, amenities and house are all perfect... but you will never find a more accommodating host than Sue. She is truly invested in each of her guests, and goes the extra mile to meet every need. Breakfast was catered to the individual, delicious & beautifully presented. My husband's first experience with "hagis" was a tremendous success. Sue helped us with restaurant recommendations, taxis, and even shipped some articles that we accidentally left behind.
We loved Scotland, we loved this B&B, we loved Maxey the dog, and we loved Sue!

We were very fortunate to stay 2 nights at 6 Brunton Place in early September. I say fortunate, because although Sue's restored, gorgeous town home is reason enough to stay, her warmth, hospitality, friendliness and concern for her guests is what makes the visit a standout. She is the epitome of hospitality.

We had been driving up from Derbyshire, taking the scenic, more challenging (to us Americans, driving on the left) route, so naturally, we arrived a bit late and could not find our way. We called Sue and she calmly and patiently talked us to her house, and was waiting for us on the sidewalk as we arrived. She then offered us some restorative wine and wonderful oatcakes in our room that she had made. (they were so good, we took the leftovers with us in our car when we drove to the Highlands)!

We loved the large Garden room, more like a small apartment, with a huge sofa, chairs, even a small table and chairs in the little sunroom, next to the beautiful walled garden. Huge bath! So much space - a true luxury!

Sue performed many small favors for us during our stay: We stopped by the train station while we were in the town center. But when I did not have my train ticket confirmation number with me, I called her and she went to our room, leafed through my notebook, and found it and gave it to me over the phone. So we did not have to make another trip to pick up our tickets! She even did a small load of laundry for us! She helped with directions for sightseeing, restaurants, anything was not too much to ask.

We were very glad we asked her to make advance reservations for us, prior to our arrival, at two wonderful restaurants: the Gardener's Cottage, just down the street, and the Cafe Royal, both with excellent food. She asked what kind or food/restaurant we liked, and made recommendations from our preferences. It was nice to have those reservations already set up before we even arrived. That way, we did not have to wander around trying to figure out what was a good place, etc.

The house has been renovated to an incredibly high standard, all the rooms and baths are beautiful and comfortable. Beautiful light-filled front room, which is also where she served a beautiful breakfast. We just loved the location, too, we walked everywhere. Parked our rental car across the street, no problems.

In summary, staying at Sue's home is more like staying with a very good friend, only she waits on you hand and foot, and provides a wonderful breakfast!

We miss you, Sue, and we envy your guests. When we return to Edinburgh, we will definitely stay with you again!
Cathy and Andy Williams

Room Tip: They are all beautiful, comfortable and plenty big. Go for the Garden Room if you want a lot of spa...
