My husband booked us in for 5 nights at 6 Brunton Place for my Birthday, I had no idea what to expect or how much it cost! We arrived from the Airport by taxi, which was expensive (around £24) but easier than taking luggage on and off buses.
When we arrived Sue greeted us with a warm smile and little bare feet! ...after meeting their lovely dog later in the week, who carried off one of her shoes.... we realised why she didnt wear them! ;-) (need to add - we did ask to meet their gorgeous dog, he doesnt roam about the house, you never hear him, see him, smell him or see a speck of dog hair anywhere at all. So if you dont like dogs, you wont even know he lives there!
We had coffee on arrival, bottles of water magically appear in your room when you empty them, lovely coffee and an assortment of tea bags, home made flapjacks and Organic Chocolate bars. Fresh milk in the dining room fridge to help yourself, and even a glass of wine should you like one. Just like being at home but better!

We had the PlayFair room, which was lovely and quiet. Decorated in dark Georgian colours with a chandelier, good size mirrors and lovely soft Egyptian cotton sheets (that my husband now insists that I buy!), The window is huge so lots of light (even in December!).
Very classy, not fussy but comfortable and spotlessly clean.

No Wardrobe but lots of hanging hooks around, and a chest of drawers. 2 chairs in the room would be a good idea as I had to sit on the bed as hubby had the chair (typical gentleman!), there is room for 2 chairs, so hope to see one next visit Sue! xxx
Apart from that it is perfect.

Bathroom isnt huge, but has everthing you need. Sue thinks of everything from cotton wool, posh towels, shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, shower gel, caps, sewing kit, cant fault it.

AND, most importantly, Lovely and clean.

Breakfast is wonderful, real freshly squeezed juices, yogurts, cereals, home made preserves, toasts, fresh bread, beautifully cooked breakfast and as much tea and coffee as you can drink.

We have now found our 2nd home in Edinburgh! Sue and Mike are wonderful people, Sue is the perfect person to look after you and make you feel welcome. Nothing is too much trouble and we will definately be going back next year and would recommend this lovely Guest house above any Hotel.

Also, buses are really easy to catch, bus stop over the road takes you to town in 5 mins for £1.40, great bus service.
We walked a lot as it is only about 15 mins into town and a nice walk (especially good after a huge breakfast!). We even walked back in the evening which is also a nice stroll. Lots of places to eat on the doorstep too if you dont want to go to town. A 5 minute walk takes you to a wonderful Indian Restaurant, and Italian and Chinese! All top quality too. Sue will give you directions.

Thank you for a lovely Birthday at Six Brunton Place xxx

Room Tip: We had the PlayFair room near the kitchen and dining room. Lovely and quiet until others went for b...

Top quality boutique B&B in an elegant Georgian townhouse. Comfortable, well-appointed bedrooms with deliciously warm en-suite bathrooms, are enhanced with plenty of fluffy towels, luxurious linen sheets and little extras like home-made flapjacks. Other lovely touches include complimentary wine to enjoy while sinking into a gloriously squashy sofa in the lounge while checking your emails via the WiFi. The charming and convivial hosts Sue and Mike lay on a marvellous breakfast, including freshly-squeezed orange juice, home-made muesli plus the 'Full Scottish', all quite delicious.

We loved this B&B. The streets of Edinburgh were very confusing and our GPS proved worthless there, since so many streets were closed. But when we finally arrived there, the Thompson's made us feel at home. They provided advice, wonderful snacks and tea. There was even some complimentary wine available for us. The room was sumptuous and quiet. The next morning our breakfast was great and filled us until late in the afternoon. The Thompsons go out of their way to make the stay perfect. It is more like staying with old friends.

8 of us gathered at Sue's B&B for a 3 day family gathering. We hailed from the USA, Belfast, London, Aberdeen & Edinburgh with an age range of 22 - 87. What a fabulous top rate discovery. From the moment we arrived till our final minute in the house the Thompsons were professional, generous, and meticulous hosts. The Georgian house has been beautifully restored with the attention to detail in the high quality 'fit out' reflecting Sue Thompson's training as an Architect. With bed linen to die for, breakfasts to keep you going all day, a welcoming bottle of wine and central location to Edinburgh city centre this is THE B&B to go for. The aged and disabled are also brilliantly catered for with an easy access ground floor room close to the dining area and entrance hall way. Sue spared no effort in catering to our every need which helped to make out weekend. Excellent value for money, We would go back again and I have no hesitation in spreading the good word. You will not regret staying at Six Brunton Place. (The road works in Edinburgh?......now that is another story)

From the moment the door was opened to when we left we were made to feel like royalty. This place ticks all the boxes -

location: easily walkable into Edinburgh
cleanliness: everything was spotless and the building has been tastefully restored to its former glory
friendliness: we couldn't have been made to feel more at home and nothing was too much bother
food: tasty full Scottish breakfast is a great way to start the day
price: we feel that the price was amazing value

If you're planning on a trip to Edinburgh, there's no better place to stay than this!
