“Great overview of money and finance”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 28, 2013

This is my pick of a nice surprise in Edinburgh. Very friendly staff, they will even open the front door for you. There is no entry fee, so you can just come in. In its few rooms, you will see the history of Scottish banking, forgery, coinage and banking products like insurance and mortgages. Lots of activities for children, and informative exhibits for the rest of us. Nice way to see how a million pounds in cash looks like (bit bulky). The size of the museum is just right too - not too much of an overload. Nice gift shop at the end, again with various things for everyone. Perfectly makes up for the "missing" museum of a central bank (which is of course in London). Would definitely go there again.

Is worth a visit: a small museum just in the middle if the city. Very interesting, friendly staff.

There you can see 1b £ for real.

“The Museum of British Money.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 24, 2013

Free Admission , although a small museum, it is quite informative with friendly staff. a tour round is about 1 hour at the most. but a good display of money through each era, and seeing what a million pounds looks like. some areas of interest for children, too.
A small gift shop, not too expensive. Clean & well presented wash room.

A great museum to spend some time in.
Free admission which is always a bonus, very welcoming staff (even opening the door for you when you arrive/leave), great selection of interactive stands throughout the museum, along with informative (but not boring) descriptive stands.

Good little gift shop at the end as well.

“Worth a visit”

A small musuem set in a bank and all about money! Lots of intesting displays to look at and interactive things to keep kids busy while you are reading. Our two loved trying to crack the safe to win a postcard and also they were fascinated by the million pounds on display! Free entry and definatley worth a look!
