“Served its Purpose”

On the positive side, the apartment was located in the heart of the city. I was able to walk a few blocks to Edinburgh Castle. The apartment was clean and the bathroom and kitchen had all the amenities. I wanted wifi, which was good and tv - there were 2, one in the living room and one in the bedroom.
On the negative side, you have to climb 2 very narrow circular staircases to reach the apartment. It was very difficult getting a large suitcase down the stairs. There are multiple doors to unlock to get in and out of the building and 3 different keys are needed to get into the actual apartment. Once inside, it is somewhat dark, especially in the bedroom. The bed itself was adequate, not especially comfortable but on a par with other beds in most other places I stayed in Scotland. I was there during Festival so it could be somewhat noisy even with Windows closed. It faced the Main Street where most of the street entertainment took place.

Thank you finding the time to leave a review for the Ladystairs property. It is very pleasing that you found many positive aspects of the property. It has to be appreciated this is a very old building in the historic Old Town of Edinburgh, a UNESCO World Heritage site, the short amount of stairs are circular but they cannot be accurately be described as "narrow" and it is not difficult to navigate a typical piece of luggage. It is very typical for the communal main door of a stairwell to have a lock and another the actual apartment, the additional door is slightly unusual but does provide that extra bit of security but it is certainly is not an onerous task to open three doors. This particular guest did visit during the incredibly busy world famous Edinburgh festival and the city centre noise pollution may be increased but there has be a certain degree of anticipation of this with such fantastic city centre location only 150 metres from Edinburgh Castle on Scotland's busiest tourist street during that period. The main pedestrianised area for the street entertainment is not directly outside this property and is approx 100 metres further down the Royal mile.

Location, location, location! Right on the Royal Mile, can see the castle to the right, third floor great for viewing, surrounded be brilliant eateries, sites, pubs et al. Very quaint and cozy flat, perfect for 2-3, nicely decorated. Dave was very friendly and easy to work with! This felt like a home away from home.

“Perfect location!”
Reviewed June 16, 2016 for a stay in June 2016

We stayed here for four nights and found the property to be clean and comfortable. The best thing about this property is it's location. Right on the Royal Mile and steps from many attractions, restaurants, and pubs. If you're looking for a 5 star room, this may not be for you as the property itself is small. However, we felt as if we had an authentic feel for Edinburgh staying at this property. It's located three floors up ,and with no lift I wouldn't recommend it for those unable, or unwilling, to climb narrow stairs. The street noise at night, particularly on the weekends, is loud and rambunctious, but did not detract at all from our stay. Dave met us at the property and was friendly and helpful.

“Royal Mile Stay”
Reviewed June 8, 2016 for a stay in May 2016

My friend and I had the pleasure of staying at Ladystairs for six very comfortable nights in May. The location is the best. We took the On/Off bus and exited right in front of the apartment. This flat is located only blocks from the Castle and is surrounded by retail establishments and is a stone's throw from the Cathedral. The flat will sleep 4. There are plenty of linens It is modern and clean. The kitchen is fully stocked.
Dave, the manager, is prompt and very accommodating. The view from the back is the Writers Museum which dates to the 1600. The price is reasonable and my deposit was returned in a timely manner. I would stay here again.

“Lovely flat in the historic area of Edinburgh.”
Reviewed January 16, 2016 for a stay in December 2015

This is a lovely flat just a block and a half from the Castle on the Royal mile. We couldn't ask for a better spot to get around to all the sites you want to see in Edinburgh.

It was easy to book and secure our reservation which was important as we stayed for ten days over Christmas 2015. We were met on time so we could move in and start enjoying our holidays. Small but clean with a nice bathroom and small kitchen for making meals. Good for two people and then you could have friends or family over for a visit. Would be difficult to have more that two stay though.

It is very well situated with a 10-15 minute walk to all the tourist attractions and down to transit and "Rabbie's" tour busses down on Princes street. You will do a ton of walking and many stairs so I would not be recommended for small children or someone with mobility issues.

Loved going through the turret to reach the apartment and often had people around us trying to sneak a peak up the stairs. This apartment is ideally located for the 'candlelight procession" on December 30th as it starts right on the corner of the block and you can see it glow from your bedroom window.

I would recommend you find a store to buy groceries and toiletries right away as there is only a small shop with the very basics close by. We only used the kitchen for breakfast but you could easily come back for lunch or supper if you are in the area. Nice to stop and quickly drop off any packages as well.

Will be looking at other properties by this company for future visits!

“Perfect location, but very loud at night”
Reviewed October 5, 2015 for a stay in September 2015

This lovely flat is in perfect location, directly on the Royal Mile. It is nice and clean and the personal welcome is very friendly. Everything was great, apart from the noise at night. I was only able to sleep with ear plugs in. If you have a deep sleep, this might not disturb you. I would not recommend sleeping on the sofa, as it is very uncomfortable. We got told so before we booked, but as it was just for 2 nights, I didn't mind.
I would stay here again, but only if the single glassing would be improved.
