“Cocktail making experience worth every penny”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 30, 2013

Came here a few years back and loved the hotel as a place to stay so decided a hen do with 9 ladies wanting something fun and different to do with the day in Edinburgh leant itself perfectly to returning. Surroundings are stunning, doormen in missoni kilts a nice touch too. Greeted with prosecco and canapés in a room kept just for us was followed by a demonstration of 3 different cocktails by the trained mixologist Ian who was lovely, charming and patient with us! We then got the chance to practice making the drinks for ourselves after tasting the professional version! The three hour session was nicely rounded off with Italian breads and dipping oil to sober us up after lots more prosecco and a few more professionally made cocktails.

This is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. The room was immaculate and cleaned to perfection every day. This is a new property and in very good shape. The staff is very well trained and really attuned to serving the guests. The Concierge is knowledgeable and helpful.
The breakfast that was included with the room was first class.
The hotel is located on a corner of the Royal Mile and convenient to everything in the old town. The walk to the new town is easy as it is all downhill. Coming back is another story and a taxi is often needed.

Very clean rooms, great free non alcohol mini bar. Rooms small but that's no big deal. Missed a bath although very nice shower! Lovely breakfast! Fantastic service. Would return to the missoni as it has a great location.

We stayed for one night in May over the Bank Holiday and whilst we were impressed with many aspects we do not think it justifies a 5 Star rating. We got a good deal and paid £154 but would have been disappointed had it been more. To make it easy see below:

Good

Super friendly and helpful staff

Great location - just of the Royal Mile & opp Deacon Brodies

Lovely, very trendy rooms which were clean & had views ours, having a view over to Arthur's Seat

Comfy beds

Bad

This is a pet 'friendly' hotel and we were woken by dogs barking a couple of times - we were really not keen on this aspect

Noisy rooms - walls appeared to be very thin, I was woken up by the sound of another guest's hair dryer and shower at 7am and we actually couldn't believe how loud this was! There was also noise coming from what sounded like the plumbing all night - very loud!

Breakfast was actually very poor and the portion size was tiny. The buffet area was badly laid out and seemed to be of inferior quality and limited choice, more like what you'd see at a Premier Inn!! We opted for the cooked breakfast and I must say I've had better at budget hotels - certainly not 5*.

A nice change but sleep quality and a decent breakfast are important to us so we probably wouldn't return.

This hotel is situated just off the Royal Mile and its location can't be faulted.

First the good bits......it's a very modern hotel, very stylish, the room was spotless with a very comfortable bed and lovely bathroom. It was well equipped with a free non alcoholic mini bar and wifi. Unfortunately the rest of the hotel left a bit to be desired.

This hotel is supposed to be five star, I'm not sure how or when this was awarded. First impressions count, no doorman to greet you. Poor check in. The hotel doesn't have a dedicated concierge instead advertising a 'universal concierge' this concept would work if the reception staff knew anything about Edinburgh. Two receptionists couldn't tell us if the Zoo was in walking distance (it isn't unless you are a long distance speed walker!), no information regarding local tourist attractions etc was available/ visible. Breakfast was nothing to write home about, the food was good quality however service was poor, finishing touches were absent......paper napkins and a tired looking buffet hardly convey the five star experience.

We booked this room as a secret deal and paid a substantively lower rate, and for what we paid it was fine, but I would have been extremely disappointed if I had paid the full rate for the product which was delivered.

Stayed at the hotel on business having last stayed for pleasure a couple of years ago. I wasn't disappointed, the same easy check in and great service from the team. Rooms are brilliantly designed and the design touches great throughout if you like the Missoni aesthetic.

No bath but wonderful shower and toiletries. Had an amazing bed that I didn't want to leave this morning. Breakfast was efficient and well done, again without fuss as was check out. Great stay and look forward to going back.

Stayed 1 night during a flying visit to Edinburgh. Perfect location on the Royal Mile. Really funky and colourful. Staff very attentive. Great room, very comfortable bed, big walk in shower, great toiletries, mini bar included. Would stay again!
