“Great location.”
Reviewed February 3, 2013

This was my third time I have visited Edinburgh, and this was by far the best hotel for amenities, comfort and location. The hotel was easy to find from Waverely bridge. Just head up towards the castle and the hotel is approx 500yards from the castle on the Royal Mile. The staff were very helpful and pleasant nothing was too much for them. As its location is on a main junction I thought the noise would have been a problem, but no,the best sleep in a hotel for years. I would not hesitate to re-book this hotel.

We only stayed one night, wished it could have been more, the front of house staff were excellent, nothing was to much trouble. The room was amazing, so modern and funky, we had a great view of Edinburgh Castle, beautiful at night. We had dinner in the hotel restaurant, it was one of the best meals we have had in a long time. The service was amazing and if you ordered your meal between 6 & 7pm it was only £19 for a 3 course meal, wonderful food and silver service as well. We will definitely stay here again if we are lucky enough to go to Edinburgh again.

Well positioned, close to the railway station, easy access to main attractions.
The hotel front of house staff are friendly and courteous. We left our luggage with them as we arrived early, on our return from our sight seeing our luggage had been placed in our room.
The bedroom was spacious and well proportioned of modern design as is the hotel.
Wi fi was available throughout the hotel, a must have these days.

The bar area was waiter service, always very busy, but the attentive staff ensured that we were well catered for !!

Breakfast was of a good standard, very busy when we were in, again staff were attentive and courteous.

This was the first time we had stayed in this hotel, highly recommended.

We have stayed in many Edinburgh boutique hotels, normally on George street, but decided to try somewhere new....and we were not disappointed! I have to say the room we stayed in was the lawnmarket suite and it was absolutely stunning! We cannot fault it or the extremely helpful staff! There was nothing negative in our stay....and we even shared the lift with a celebrity! Can't wait for our next stay!'

Stayed one night but wish we could have stayed longer. Loved this hotel. Fantastic room overlooking front of hotel. Bed very comfy and lovely bathroom. Shower was fantastic which made up for lack of a bath. Breakfast was wonderful with great selection and the most wonderful china teapot. Staff very friendly and helpful. Not sure about the funky bar. Felt it wasn't quite in keeping with the rest of the hotel but maybe more to do with our age. Clientele quite young and don't like hen parties. However the cocktails were fab. Bed so comfortable with lovely bed linen. All in all a great find and hope to visit again.

We stayed for 3 nights over Hogmanay and loved it!
Very funky and quirky.
Staff were excellent especially the reception and bar...nothing was too much trouble.
Cocktails are great but very strong, the Vespa in particular which my husband found out!
Rooms very well appointed, if there was one thing I didn't like it was the pillows..they were just full of air, there was no substance to them.
We were on the 4th floor so had a great view out over Arthur's Seat.
The hotel was the perfect position for us, it was located in the lovely Old Town on the Royal Mile,a stones throw (well a 5 minute walk) from the Castle....we had tickets for the Hogmanay Street Party and one of the entrances was just outside our hotel..Princes Street was a very pleasant 10 minute walk away.
Loved the hotel and would definitely return!

Excellent hotel and brilliant location (for Royal Mile and grass market). Clean, comfortable and very 'funky' staff kilts are a nice touch. Some of the best cocktails in the cocktail bar, get the Bulgarian barman (sorry didn't get his name) very good at what he does.
