We booked the Hotel Missoni for one night only and at the end of our stay I'd wished we'd book it for the two nights. We arrived into a beautiful reception area with the most helpful of staff. We were early, but they immediately gave us our room which was brilliant as we wanted to go out for lunch. The room was perfect with our lovely bathrobes and slippers and fabulous view from our window. It's perfectly situated on the Royal mile so we were able to have great choice of eating places plus a brilliantt pub crawl in the Grassmarket. We didn't eat in the hotel but we sat in the relaxing lounge and drank prosecco, which was bliss. The room was both stylish and comfortable, and we were able to have lie in the next morning as the checkout time is noon. I would certainly recommend this hotel, and will be back again for sure.

Pros - Great location, funky design, cocktail bar, free mini bar, excellent customer service, comfy bed.

Cons - not as clean and tidy as it should be, some parts of the room looking a little worn, cant adjust TV location easily, and pricey for what you get.

All in all I would say this is a good 4 start hotel.

Stayed at the Hotel Missoni for one night during a two day trip to see the Magic Flute at the Edinburgh Festival Theatre.

Inside the hotel is visually stunning with examples of modern design everywhere. We arrived around 12.30 and, while the room we had booked wasn't available, we were quickly given an alternative.

Our room was smaller than I expected, yet had a nice view over the rooftops to the Firth of Forth.

Again, the room was full of modern Missoni design, but was let down by a lack of cleanliness in the corners and on some surfaces including a standard lamp. The facilities included everything one would expect in a 5* room.

We booked a pre-theatre supper and while service was very friendly and helpful, our Roast Cod on lentils with a side order of broccoli with garlic and chilli was very slow to arrive. We were then somewhat rushed, although we did manage to arrive at the theatre just in time to take our seats,

On a positive note: The bed was probably the most comfortable bed either of us had ever slept in.

Our inclusive breakfast included a buffet of cereals, fruits, breads and lots of other delicacies all of which looked very appetizing. We both ordered our cooked breakfast, my partner a mushroom omelette and myself the full Scottish and then selected some cereal and fruits.

Our cooked breakfasts - unlike our suppers - were served very quickly and we had to set aside our cereals and fruits to accommodate such haste. We got the distinct impression that the kitchen staff wished to close up!

Overall a very stylish hotel which was let down by a lack of care and attention in the details.

My husband and I stayed at the Hotel Missoni, Edinburgh for 2 nights:
1.A contemporary design hotel just off the Royal Mile (one end is Edinburgh Castle and the other Holyrood Palace) within close proximity of the AirLink Airport to Town bus stop
2.Easy to reach from the bus stop (same stop for sightseeing tours) and once you step into the lobby you are made to feel very welcome - Stephanie who greeted us informed us that we had received a room upgrade and told of the best sights.
3.We arrived at our room, which in true Missoni style was stunning, the size was adequate and very clean and modern - plus we were welcomed with a handwritten card and chocolate covered strawberries (which was a lovely touch) and had complimentary minibar (including alcohol) and breakfast.
4.Cucina - the restaurant at Missoni, served Italian foods which was lovely, we ordered both in the restaurant for our anniversary meal and breakfast, in addition to the room service. The amount of breakfast that you get is phenomenal and complimentary as part of the room upgrade!!!
5.Edinburgh is a lovely city, with beautiful architecture and people and the Missoni made every effort to ensure that we enjoyed our wedding anniversary...will definitely be returning!

Room Tip: Definitely go for an upgrade which includes complimentary minibar and breakfast

This hotel exceeded our expectations in every way. I so wish I could remember the name of the young man who handled our check in. He, our first contact (upon walking in the front door) took care of everything, did not rush us through the process, offered to help with any/all reservations for meals and activities and followed up on everything to see how it was. In addition, I needed ice packs for an injury and he went out of his way to get us ice on a regular basis and offered other suggestions for what might help. He was never too busy to give us information or map out a location; he made dinner reservations at a beautiful restaurant just down the street and it was exactly what we wanted. I just have never seen such attention to detail - and in a perfect way - so as to make you feel like you had a personal concierge from the minute you checked in, but never felt smothered with attention. And must add that it was not a stuffy atmosphere and all staff was kind and friendly. We had breakfast at the hotel both mornings and it also was excellent. Our room was amazing with a view of the street below, very comfortable beds, beautiful decor and everything we needed. Last but not least, cannot think of a more perfect location for exploring the city.

I have just got back from a long weekend in Edinburgh with my girlfriend and stayed at the Missoni for 3 nights. I am undecided about this hotel, there were the positives, however there were some drawbacks which outweighed the positives...which for a 5* i was surprised to find having stayed in 5* hotels around the world which were faultless.
The location firstly is spot on...5 minute walk from the castle and other attractions, 10 minute walk to the train station, close to the restaurants and town centre, and there's a great real ale pub right across the road called deacon brodie's tavern which is warm and cosy and worth a visit.
The staff are very welcoming, courteous, and helpful...check-in and out was quick and easy, and room changes were done twice a day if needed.
However for the price in which i paid i was a little disappointed in the room...it was modern and funky but very basic, the view out of the window looked out onto the lawnmarket which was very nice, and i cannot fault the cleanliness. The bed was fine, nice and comfortable however the pillows are terrible!!! you put your head on it and it sinks into the pillow wrapping around your head and and you can feel the mattress through it...i found myself having to stuff the pillow cases with scatter cushions to bulk it out to avoid this. The television is not wall mounted it is just on top of the table at the foot of the bed so if you are hoping to watch television in bed you cant lie down and will need to sit up.
There is a complimentary fridge in the room which has fizzy drinks, bottles of water, and milk inside which are replenished during the day which is a bonus, and of course there are the tea and coffee facilities.
We never opted for the B&B when booking however on Saturday morning we decided to try out the breakfast just for convenience. I am disappointed to say it wasn't worth it...it is £18.00pp, we both ordered the eggs benedict and it was a let down and certainly not worth the price!!! the yokes on the eggs were hard not runny, it was a slice of what looked like supermarket packaged ham, on a barely toasted muffin!!! we also ordered a side of toast...which was cold, and the butter was so hard it was impossible to spread. I personally wouldn't recommend the breakfast at the hotel...you can go to either garfunkels or cafe rouge which are within a few minutes walk and get exactly the same plus more for half the price. We didn't eat dinner at the hotel but from the menu again the prices seemed steep.
After we had been out for the evening on Saturday we came back to the hotel and decided to go the hotel bar to try it out, and again am disappointed to say it wasn't much. it is right by the main entrance so every time someone came in or out there was a blast of cold air which made it chilly sitting there, and the seating itself wasn't comfortable, and again i found it overly priced for what you get.
I am being picky in what i have listed however for the total price i don't believe the hotel warrants a 5* status and if it weren't for the location i think it would struggle, and i don't think i would stay at the hotel when i visit edinburgh in the future.
