We found a deal by searching many comparison sites as this is really out of our budget with two young children as a priority. We have stayed in many many hotels through work and pleasure and this is by far the best ever! The staff were great very welcoming, no miserable reception faces that you usually seem to get...... We will definately be staying here again! The location is fantastic! The room was great as it faced the main street so we could watch everyone going back and forth. The bar is great for relaxing and the staff were great, recommended drinks and topping up your glass staright away.... The only downside was breakfast - not the food, the food was amazing - just the 2 members of staff overseeing the waiters and greeting people, awful awful service from both women on both days! I should have complained but could not approach the lovely guy on the reception as he was too nice and made up for their ignorance!
We will definately be back!!!

Room Tip: Ask for an upgrade and get as high up as possible!

Great hotel, good sized rooms and fab attention to detail by the staff. Small complaint is the room was very hot, check before you go to sleep! Otherwise definitely recommend it! Location is perfect and easy walking distance to everything you would want, especially the castle

We'd booked this stay on a web site that had a mystery 5 Star hotel.
After using my own knowledge of hotels of that rating on Edinburgh, I was initially disappointed it was the Missoni, as I knew nothing of it... After staying here for 3 nights, I am glad we stayed.

You can read a ll about the rooms, the style etc. But I can say that the location is almost untouchable, especially if you are new to the City.
Service was great, young staff and a young stylish modern feel.

Great hotel to stay in if you want to be close to the Royal Mile and Castle. All staff friendly and very helpful. Funky bar to have pre or post dinner drinks. Food serviced in restaurant top class (two course lunch special £15.95).

Minus points - room quite stuffy and air conditioning noisy. Beds very hard, would have preferred softer mattress, but this is personal choice.

Would definitely recommend for a fab stay in Edinburgh (free soft drinks in mini bar and complimentary sweets in reception a bonus).

Plus points:

Location
Front of house staff
Free mini-bar (soft drinks only)

Minus points:

Air conditioning that seems to kick off after a couple of minutes leaving the bedroom very stuffy. Not so bad if you could open a window - but you can't.
Coffee machine that didn't work properly.
No milk for the coffee machine.
Small point, only one set of slippers. Providing them was a nice touch but lack of attention to detail meant that it was an annoyance.
Valet parking- no-one at front door to take the car away. Had to go into the hotel to hunt some-one down. Not a good start.
Breakfast staff gave you the impression that they were doing you a favour. After we were shown to our table we went out to get some juice. Coming back to our table they'd given it to some-one else. Apology offered but didn't seem that bothered. Pot of tea took forever and breakfast was warm not hot. Tasty though.

All the above not what you'd expect from a 5 star hotel.

Probably one of the best hotels I've stayed in. Great rooms, friendly staff and an overall fantastic atmosphere. I do a lot of travelling for work so have unfortunately stayed in many supposedly quality hotels that charge an arm and a leg for wi-fi etc etc...well this place is not cheap by any measure but they are also not 'cheap'...everything was included in the price tag - mini-bar, films on demand (and good ones too, not some 1998 Will Smith travesty for £10 that I could just download if I for some reason ever wanted to watch it in the first place, perhaps I had recently just been sectioned under the Mental Health Act, who knows)

We ordered room service and the food was great (a first). I had to work the next day and the staff were very accomodating. Recommended.

we went here on the last day of the fringe festival
and from our window you could see the hoards of people
wandering around, great for people watching

room was great the tv was too small though they need to
have at least a 26 inch tv in a hotel bedroom

we didn't watch much as it happened so didn't spoil our stay

the shower / bathroom was really nice good shower and free soaps ext

the staff were mostly foreign but really nice and friendly
lads on the doors were great too nothing was a bother to them
we were on the third floor and a nice street view

breakfast was included we had it in our room twice
as we were not impressed at the restaurant or the service
we came in to nobody to welcome us in or to show us
how to go about ordering, my girlfriend approached someone
who told us it really wasn't ok to sit where we had say
but we stood aur ground and sat there
then we ignored for some time until my girlfriend spotted a waiter?
who sort of looked her up and down as she asked the protocol
of ordering?
all in all an unpleasant breakfast the food was ok to good

the lounge area is really nice and open big bar loads of places to park your bum and people watch whilst having drink

loads of places to eat out so we never went for meals at the hotel

free mini bar in our room too

we prefer the area where the Glasshouse hotel is rather than the
Royal mile but it was a bustling lively area if that's your choice
we enjoyed our stay and we were in the superior Maggiore rooms
which are a step up from standard would love to stay in the suites
but i'm not a millionaire : / one day maybe
myself and my girlfriend Lynne love Edinburgh
and we would come back to the Missoni but only after
we go back to the Glasshouse first : )
