We had take away fish and chips. It was so slow. Loads of staff but only one guy serving. Fish was nice, chips ok. The bins outside were overflowing and we had trouble disposing of waste. I would not return!

After a review on a tv program we decided to visit. Excellent fish and chips and lobster. The service was ok, and the place is nice.
Prices also ok,
Only weird thing, we couldn’t book for 13:00, we need to do it for 13:45. We arrived before time and the restaurant was half empty.

Visited on the sunniest Saturday evening so we were expecting a queue but .... 75 minutes
Just had standard fish suppers which were lovely-crisp, well-cooked chips and delicious melt-in-the-mouth batter on the fish. Also had a special request as one of our party had a shellfish allergy and excellent service as they cooked the haddock in separate batter for us.
But that queue !! It really put us off for thinking about a return visit. Surely there is a better system! Such a shame!

On arrival we the service we received was wonderful.
The wine was lovely.
Our main course was delicious, the best haddock and chip meal I have had in a long time.
Unfortunately things went a bit downhill after this point. My lemon possett had not set and was still very runny. Other desserts were fine.
The coffees we ordered did not turn up and we had to remind our waitress after a while.
I then asked for more water, which again did not turn up until I asked for a second time.
We were brought the bill fairly quickly when we asked for it but then had to wait around for ages to pay.

Given the quality of main course, I would return to this restaurant but maybe not hang around for dessert.

Having seen this on tv a few weeks ago we decided to give it a try, well we were not disappointed, arrived around midday no chance of a table (booking recommended) so we had the lot cheaper take out Haddock & Chips, do not confuse cheaper with quality it was megga, Ok so we had one of the most beautiful days to eat out on the old jetty at Newhaven but none the less this is the best F&Cs we have ever had even better than the Happy Haddock in Kirkwall & that's saying something, Anstruther you have serious competition!
