“Wonderful place to stay”

This is a wonderful B&B with everything to recommend it. It is only a short walk away from the heart of the city but still very quiet at night. The rooms are exceptionally well appointed and decorated with lots of very thoughtful and helpful touches. Breakfasts are excellent and the hosts very welcoming. Highly recommended.

Like everyone else, my wife and thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Hedges guest house. We stayed for 5 nights and would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone. Heather is a delight and such a nice lady. Very helpful and breakfast was always hot and delicious and if we had to head out early in the morning a take out bag of goodies was ready for us. The room was more than adequate. We had the room facing the street and it was very quiet and served our needs just fine. The only small issue was the wifi was hit and miss, and we had to sit as close to the door as possible to get a good signal. But that was just a small incovenience that we actually found throughout Europe for some reason. The location was about 15 minutes to the royal mile, so make sure your up for a walk, but on the other hand it was far enough away that it was a bit more quiet which is to our liking. You cant go wrong staying here!

Thank you for taking the time to review the Hedges. We take all our reviews seriously. and also acknowledge all feed back.
We have just renewed our router and is now much stronger and quicker, and has proved to be an excellent reception in all rooms.
Thank you again really appreciated your comments.
Kind regards
Heather

Visiting Edinburgh regularly, have already tried a few of B+B establishments there.
None meet the standards we found at The Hedges. Heather is an excellent host, with a keen eye for detail. Comfortable bed, spotlessly clean room, modern bathroom, great breakfasts,

We booked The Hedges based on good reviews on Tripadvisor and were not disappointed! Our room on the ground floor was just beautiful and though it faced the street no noise got in. Very (very) clean room, modern and fresh bathroom with good water preassure. Adapter, hair dryer and umbrella in room + some snacks and juice. Bed was super comfy and big! The door frame in the bathroom could do with some paint but when this is the only "fault" one finds you know you're in a good place (and this is me being picky and super honest)!

Breakfast was very good though the coffee was so-so - this seems to be a Scottish thing though ;) You can choose to have BF at 8:30 or 9 which worked fine for us. There is not much flexibility with these hours though, so if you have an early morning you should be prepared.
We stayed away for one night up north and Heather lovingly packed us some snacks for the road (including music) - very nice touch!

The walk in to town (Princes street) is about 10 minutes (15 to airlink with heavy bags), and about 5 minutes to the Play house and the mall. There is also a bus stop 5 minutes from the b&b where most buses seem to stop, plus one right across the street from the front door. The area seems very safe and we walked home in the evening.

Heather is very helpful with any information you could need and just the perfect hostess. Would definitely stay again!

The Hedges is charming from the moment you walk up to the iron gate...situated on a quiet crescent, gated and filled with Victorian charm. Our room was amazing! Beautifully decorated and furnished. The Victorian elements were delightful...ceiling medallions, moldings, etc. Heather and Ian were great hosts. Heather was so warm and invited us into her home like family. The castle, museums, restaurants and other sites are short walks from the front door. Our breakfast was delicious..I would recommend the porridge with whiskey! We will definitely return in the future.

We stayed there for one weekend and the host Heather was great! The room was beautiful and the bathroom really new and everything was super clean. The breakfast was great and very tasty. Heather is a great host and always there if you have any questions. The location is good too, 5 minutes to restaurants and about 15 minutes to the royal mile, easy walk you don´t even need to take a bus. Calton Hill is about 5 min away and the Palace of Holyroodhouse is only 10 minutes away, also an easy walk. The beautiful city and the great B&B made it an unforgettable trip. If we come back The Hedges Guesthouse would be our first choice.

A friend of mine and I stayed at The Hedges Guesthouse for the last 3 nights of our 10 day trip to Ireland/Scotland. Heather was so welcoming and accommodating during our entire stay. I felt like I was staying with relatives or someone I had known for years. The room was fantastic and quite spacious, unlike the many other B&Bs we stayed in throughout our trip. The bathroom was also great and even had a towel warmer with warm towels waiting for us. Heather's attention to the smallest details really made our trip so much more enjoyable. She had a traditional Scottish drink and chocolates waiting for us in our room in addition to a gourmet chocolate on our pillow before bedtime. My umbrella was destroyed in the wind and she had one waiting for us in our room that evening. We bought so many gifts that our lugguage was overweight but we needed to know by how much. When we came back to the room that day she had a scale there for us so we could weigh and reorganize as needed prior to leaving for the airport the next morning. We had to leave early for the airport with additional luggage so she scheduled a taxi with additional storage for us to take to the airport in order to accomodate everything. And the breakfast was amazing.............so many great options which filled us up so we didn't even need to eat lunch and we were able to save money each day on our food expenses. The location was fantastic. It was very convenient to the theatre district, all kinds of shopping, the Royal Mile and underground tours and the castle (unfortunately the castle was closed for us during our trip due to high winds). The entire guesthouse was so clean and so quaint and we loved every minute of our stay with Heather. If your travels take you to Edinburgh, you must stay here!!!! (Thanks Heather........we will be back.....Tracey and Joy)

Room Tip: Their room types are slightly different. We were two American females traveling together, but we di...
