We recieved a voucher to have afternoon Tea at the balmoral as a wedding gift. This is such a nice gift as it was a whole afternoon experience and was a great thing to do as a couple to spend some time together while being spoiled !
The suroundings of Palm court were lovely and the tables very private.
The afternoon tea itself was very nice & very traditional. First we were brought a stand with finger sandwhiches. These were very nice but not as much thought put into the fillings as there could have been. And if i had one slight issue it is that there is more emphasis put on the sweet treats and less on the savory ( although i dont mind this , there could have been a better balance)
Next we had warm scones (2 each both plain & fruit) with jam and clotted cream. These were absolutly lovely. There was also a plate of small cakes, ie: cheescake and some shortbread. After this the sweet trolly was brought round. This had lots of little Peti four treats, eg turkish delight, edinburgh rock etc and also slices of cake.
Accompanying this we had a choice of a huge range of teas which were made at out table in silver tea pots. We also had these re-filled as many times as we wanted.
All in all highly recommended.

We had reservations for One in the evening, but we stopped in the Bollinger bar for tea. My wife had a sore throat which our server picked up on immediately. He suggested a hot toddy "just the thing" for her and a whiskey for me. To this day, whenever we catch cold, we talk about our afternoon in the Bollinger Bar and the kind man who took care of us. Someday we'll go back and get the recipe.

Lovely afternoon tea with a good variety of sandwiches, tasty little scones and sweet treats. Many different teas and coffees to choose from as well as champagne for an extra special celebration. The food was very good and the service was excellent. It's not cheap, but it is a little bit of luxurious indulgence. Would recommend for a special occasion or a nice surprise gift.

Booked afternoon tea at the Balmoral Hotel Edinburgh. £25 per person but a lovely setting, with lovely food and lovely staff. Well worth it for a special treat! Includes a wide choice of weird and wonderful teas, sandwiches and more cakes than you could ever dream of. Sheer heaven!

We were lucky enough to be given a gift voucher for 'The Balmoral Champagne Afternoon Tea' as a engagement present since we got engaged in the Number One Restraurant in Balmoral Hotel.
We spent the day doing tourist things (although we live in Edinburgh) such as visiting the german winter market, going ice skating in the gardens and going on the big wheel and then went to the Balmoral about 5:30pm.
Firstly you are greated by the doorman who opens the door and shows you in to the main reception where there was a very nicely decorated Christmas tree and a roaring fire which was a welcome sight. We then made our way to the Bollinger Bar were we were shown to our table.

We were given a very nice booth area but unfortunately it was shared with another couple so initially it did feel a bit cramped.

We were given the afternoon tea menu which had lots of tea's to choose from (20+) , so many that it took us a while to decide what we wanted. To help we were given a very nice amuse bouche to start and this was then followed by our selection of sandwiches and cakes. Once we were finished our sandwiches, freshly warmed scones were brought to our table with jam and fresh clotted cream. It was amazing!
We were also served our champagne at the table which we enjoyed with our afternoon tea.

To finish it off we then were given a choice of a selection of freshly made deserts from the desert table! There was so much in this afternoon tea that we didnt manage to finish it and that was over a 2 hour period!

It was a very relaxing way to spend the afternoon.

The question is, would I spend the money myself to have this experience again. The truth is, probably not. The Champagne afternoon tea is £40 per person which as nice as it was, I would rather spend that sort of money on a very nice lunch or dinner. The afternoon tea without the champagne is £25 per person and I would consider doing that because the service was great, as you would expect from this standard of hotel, the food was also fantastic but I can happily live without my glass of Champagne.

All in all, a lovely experience and I would would recommend to anyone, even if you only do it the once.

Dear Guest

Thank you so much for taking the trouble to write a review following your recent celebratory visit for afternoon tea. I am delighted that you and your fiancé enjoyed your experience with us and sincerely hope that you do find an excuse to return in the future – be it with or without the champagne!

Kind regards
