No atmosphere and no other customers. I am not surprised. Four of us ate ,salmon ok, veal poor, penne ok, lasagne ok. All in all very average we won't go back.

My wife and I were staying in a bed and breakfast in this area and we wanted a nice evening meal. The New Bell restaurant was recommended so we decided to give it a try. Initially we thought we were going in a pub but then realised that the restaurant was on the first floor above the pub. We didn't book and were fortunate that a table was available. We each ordered seafood dishes and both meals were served promptly and with a smile. The quality was excellent, the service good and prices reasonable. We have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant.

This restaurant used to be not great however new Italian managers and chefs have changed it for the better. It is now the nearest decent restaurant to my home i have been a number of times and not been disappointed the lady who overseas the restaurant is very nice and the food gets better each time that I have visited. Oh and the pub below serves really good beer what more do you need for a good night out

This restaurant above a great welcoming pub in Edinburgh's south side is definitely worth a visit. There were five of us celebrating a birthday. We were not disappointed. Our waitress was attentive and friendly. Excellent choice of Italian dishes with tasty pasta and fresh fish on the menu. I recommend the rib eye steak which comes with a choice of sauces. Cooked to perfection! I think next time I'll try the veal! The carrots, green beens and potatoes were fresh and full of flavour. All in all, a fine dining experience and highly recommend.

Above a great pub in Edinburgh's south side the food is sadly very poor quality. Tonight's experience; a supposedly salmon starter was a few flakes of smoked salmon with salad vegetables in a blob of overwhelming creamy textured "ick" served on 3 fingers of stale bread. The main course comprised chicken wrapped in Parma ham with vegetables was a pile of disgusting orange coloured sauce, so much so everything was the same colour. This covered under cooked potatoes and overcooked asparagus, all of which was orange,,yeuk!
