I really enjoyed my tour--it's a great way to learn about the history of the city, which helps put everything in context as you visit other places, like the castle, etc. My guide Andrew knew a lot about the city, he was fun and interesting, and he a did a great job creating a colorful history and helping us understand the complexities about Edinburgh's past--not easy considering a walking tour of the city cannot possibly be told in chronological order!

It was really interesting, with interesting stories and a lot of history rolled into a short tour. The tour guide was knowledgeable and made the tour fun and not like being back at school doing history which was a good thing. A very good way to see the city of old town and views of some awesome buildings. Recommend this tour to anyone that is edinburgh. Chur

This free walking tour is very worth the time! Our guide, Neale, was very well spoken and obviously passionate about his work, his country, and the city of Edinburgh. Loved the tour and all the details we discovered about this interesting and beautiful city!

Great tour today by Neale!!! Very fun, informative, and he really seemed to care about educating the group about his homeland! I was impressed by his depth and breadth of knowledge, and his way of keeping some dry history fun and interesting. Highly recommend! I would especially recommend doing the tour first if coming to Edinburgh - it gives you a good framework of the city, after which you can choose what to explore more n depth, or even save time by skipping things you might to need to see again. Great job!

My wife and I decided to try out the walking tour of Edinburgh, Scotland with a dynamic and very knowledgeable guide Ben. Ben's genuine love of the history of Edinburgh was very evident and passionate, and that made our tour a great experience. We enjoyed the first tour so much, that with great enthusiasm, we decided to do the Walking tour of the Edinburgh Castle as well. At the conclusion of these two tours, we we on our feet trudging through Edinburgh for a good five and a half hours. What a feast of historical story telling that only when it all ended, we realized that we gladly walked ourselves into a deliciously tired state. We are very glad we made the choice and would strongly recommend the Free Walking Tours, albeit not necessarily more than one a day so that fatigue doesn't dilute your experience.
