We stayed for a week at the Parkside Apartment, not far from Arthurs Seat which sleeps 6 over 2 floors. From the outside it looks pretty grim and to be fair is better when you get inside. Outside there is a lovely garden but very little, if any, street parking which doesn't cost a fortune.
The house could be lovely, it has obviously not been decorated or looked after for years, the beautiful period fireplace has been boxed in.A lot of things are broken, tired looking and worn out. There is a large kitchen but very little to cook with, we were hoping to entertain family while we were there- not really possible. There is a drawer full of blunt knives- fortunately I had bought 'no peel carrots'! corkscrew was broken, the cooker lid and kitchen bin lid also broken.............
The apartment was clean, there were plenty of toilet rolls, towels and some soft soap, the shower tray was broken.
The beds were not particularly comfortable and the pillows had definitely seen better days.
Home from home? Not for me but probably ok if you are a student..

We ended up here when our original apartment had an plumbing issue and were booked here by them. I think we got a good deal as this apartment would sleep 6 comfortably so we had a room each!

Great apartment. No issues except the corkscrew was broken (LOL) Comfortable. Located about £10 cab fare from city centre. Nice neighbours who lent us a corkscrew! Lovely bedrooms (4) and bathrooms (2). Kitchen very comfortable with all mod cons. Staff who came to clean when we were leaving were lovely.

Plenty of room for all of us (4) and probably a few more. Very well presented. Had a great time. Pub round the corner is a laugh and open late on a Sunday!

Tiny things: Two of the stairs on the lower staircase need fixing soon. Would have been nice to have a welcome basket or the offer of stocking with basics. Long walk to the nearest shop to get milk, tea etc. After a long trip to have been provided the basics would have been magic. Perhaps think about offering ... We would have definitely paid for this.

very basic and old accommodation. no curtains in living room with bright street light shining in and lots of traffic noise. very small and old tv. kitchen had no teapot or egg cups. in 2014 this is basic stuff. no shaving point. toilet unusable if you are a little overweight. other apartments across road in hopetoun crescent of similar price are far far more superior. all in all a dark dingy building very uninviting. not even a welcome pack of basics which most other apartments supply. only good point was it is close to shops but still a long walk to edinburgh attractions.

Auld Reekie has all the basics you need in a low budget kind of way. Everything is clearly pretty cheap but it's warm, there's hot water and you get a towel each. It's adequately clean but I would say it's been a while since it was deep cleaned or had any money spent on it. 64 steps up to the apartment may make it a struggle for those who are not able bodied/fit - but it is on the 3rd floor so to be expected. The door and entrance hall could do with a lick of paint, scenes from Trainspotting came to mind when we arrived. A hairdryer would have been much appreciated and is the sort of thing you expect these days and 2 cheap loo rolls for 6 people for one weekend is just not enough - lots of little, inexpensive touches could really improve this place, it already has a great location. The one main thing though, take ear plugs. The noise in the front bedroom during the night (sirens, cars, people talking/shouting) is quite unbelievable and lead to the worst 2 nights sleep I have ever had and I used to live within 50 metres from Clapham Junction Station.

Room Tip: Don't sleep in the front bedroom without earplugs!

Stayed for the weekend with friends and overall the apartment was clean, in a great spot and just what we needed with 6 of us. Well kept and spacious. The tiny gripe for us was just the little touches like no tea or coffee or salt and pepper. In the grand scheme of it they are not important but litle touches like that are just the things people remember I.e. having to find a shop and get a few basics in before we could get out and about. As I say apart from tjat I recommend theae apartments

After a five day walking tour staying at B&Bs, it was great to be able to prepare our own meals and wash our clothes. While there was a washing machine, no washing powder or sachets was provided, which did mean the purchase of a box at the supermarket to do just one load of washing - rather wasteful. However the kitchen was well-equipped, the apartment was spacious and clean, and within walking distance of the old city. WiFi worked well, always a bonus.

This is a very pleasant apartment near the centre of Edinburgh, within easy walking distance of many of the city's attractions.

I'd have no hesitation in recommending this as a place to stay: it's quiet, well-maintained, spacious and everything was in good working order. Free WiFi was a bonus for the very reasonable price.

I would note that there are no tea/coffee/milk etc on arrival, which isn't by any means a problem but is worth noting if you're travelling a long distance to get there: bring some teabags! Also, the heating had not been turned on before arrival, although the apartment did heat up quickly which was good. This might not have been noticeable had the weather not been unusually cold (and I am a frequent and long-standing traveller to Scotland throughout the whole year for both business and leisure) and it snowed for most of the weekend throughout a cold snap.

All in all I would have no hesitation in recommending this accommodation and will look into using it again next time I'm in Edinburgh.

Thanks for a lovely stay.
