Before staying, I checked out the hotels website and was surprised when I found out it used to be an asylum.
The hotel is on the road and you could walk past it and not notice it. There is an NCP car park close by and the hotel will stamp your ticket so you get a discount.
The hotel itself is very impressive. You walk up through an old walk way with a cobbled road and come out in a small courtyard. In the courtyard the hotel has a cigar bothy and some tables and chairs. The hotel has done well to mix the style of the old with modern.
It has a whisky bar, a wine tasting bar and restaurants. I wasn't able to dine in the restaurant but I've heard the food is good.
The rooms are nice, not huge. The rooms don't have numbers but are individually named(which I thought was a nice touch) the bathrooms are nicely sized with a shower and bath.
Overall I enjoyed my stay and would definitely stay here again!
