From the onset of arrival I could tell it was going to be an ok stay but not one to shout home about.
We arrived 1.30 pm drenched from the downpour, that happend to carry on all day, and the receptionist said we would have to wait another hour before we could check in. We dried off a touch then left suitcase and off we toddled (in th rain).
Excuse me for being picky!
When we came back we were shown to our room on the 2nd floor. The room was tastefully decorated yet compact. I suppose you would say functionable. the Bathroom was tiny but did have a monsoon, as advertised, that needed a really good clean as the water only came out of some of the holes.
The bath was deep, as described, though no handles to help the height challenged of us little people out of the tub. It did look like the bath was sinking into the floor as there was a bit of a gap between the tiles and the bath top, though this no way hindered the performance of the said object.
The shower screen was mouldy and worn. Sucha a shome really considering the hotel is a 4 star. The loo roll was nearly see through, worse than a cheap tissue paper. The airconditioning didn't work very well, it was blowing out air but felt quite warm. The corridirs were really creaky so you could hear quite alot of foot traffic.
The rooms are based around a courtyard which is quaint and boasted its unique cigar hut. What they don't tell you is not to open your bedroom window when everyone is smoking below your room!
I didn't really get much sleep as I kept hearing water, I thought it was the water pipes in other rooms but it turned out our monsoon shower was switching itself on and off. I did report this in the morning (this is when I found out, after having a shower) to reception and she said she would get some-one to look at it, too late for us though as we were checking out.
Overall I would say we didn't have a brilliant experience and unfortunately would not go back to this hotel.
