“One of the best hotels one can stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 16, 2013

I was working in Edi for 11 months and I stayed for 10 months in the Apex. Words are not enough to describe the great services and the behavior of the personnel. Food is great, from breakfast to any room service dish, rooms are spacious and clean, everything is new and shiny and of course the location and the views are incredible. I have stayed in many room types and I have a global opinion. All the team know their jobs and are professionals to every detail. They had always a way to meet my needs. They made me feel like home and leaving Apex was a really sad moment.

Room Tip: All rooms are fantastic. For special views, rooms like 1015 with city view or 1007 with view to the...

We booked this hotel on Expedia and were very happy with the results. The hotel is excellent. It is in a really good location -- at the top of Prince's Street, one block from Waverley train station, across the street from King James shopping center, a block over from the Royal Mile. Just a really good location to everything.

The hotel, itself, is excellent. It is one of the few in Edinburgh that has air conditioning. The bedrooms are spacious and the bathroom is large with a big bathtub and a large walk-in shower. The service is good and fast. The food from room service is good too. I would definitely stay here again and would definitely recommend it to friends.

Tried this hotel for the first time as it's close to where I needed to be and wasn't an extortionate rate at the tail end of the Edinburgh festival. I asked for a quiet room as I had read some reviews about road noise in some rooms. I was moved into a inside room which was very quiet (once I turned the air con off!). The room was a decent size with a good size walk in shower, and towels and bedlinen were very crisp and fresh. Breakfast was very good. I order off the menu and was accommodated without any trouble, and I had some of their banana bread to finish which was delicious. Can't really fault it and will likely stay there again. If I had one observation it would be that the bar area is big and modern with huge windows so not sure how cosy it would be on a cold winter's night which Edinburgh has a lot of!

This is a good hotel in a great location. The rooms, although a little small, were clean and well appointed. Service was friendly. The spa was OK, just a bit small too - best early on before anyone else gets there. This is a good choice if you don't want to splash out big bucks on one of the premium hotels on or around Princes St.

Large rooms, very comfortable bedding, no noise, I slept like a baby. The hotel is clean and in great condition. The breakfast buffet is good but not exceptional, and there are not many things to choose from. The warm orders (extra charge) are good. The location is excellent, in walking distance from the castle and the whole town center.
I did not go to the spa/pool area.
Apparently the lower floor of the hotel connects directly to the railway station. Very practical if you trains are part of your travel plans.

Stayed in a family room which consisted of a large double bed and a pull out sofa bed at the end of the double bed. Room was clean and relatively large being a family room. Staff were very friendly and eager to help. The hotel appears popular for European touring groups but we had no problems getting assistance when required. Breakfast was included in the price we paid and the food was excellent- had more than our monies worth each day. Interior is very modern and tasteful- I had visions of crusty old furnishings. As mentioned by others the hotel is in a great location up the road from Waverley train station and with an easy walk to main streets, sightseeing pick up points and the castle. Given the time of year with all of the festivals being on the price was reasonable. Would stay there again.
