Glad to get back home, from a working group of 5, lack of power sockets and no bedside lamps and our rooms were not ready for us on arrival, had a chat with a couloured guy over booking in time, breakfast room no body to cook breakfast seems like the owner does not care about this buisness or make the effort, overall worked 12 hr nights over 3 days so was important for daysleeps, travel lodge is a lot quieter rowdy guests, thin walls, smell of smoke in passage and landing area. heating swiches off on afternoon room was very cold.

I stayed at the guest house with my mum on a trip to visit my brother who lives in Edinburgh.
The hotel itself is in a nice spot quite close to the zoo but a little bus journey away from the city centre.

We arrived later than expected but called the number outside the door as requested and a kind gentleman finally answered the door. He had told us that he had been out all day and the manager was sick and our room was not yet ready - we were fine with this as we had arranged to meet my brother any way and we left our bags so that they could be put in our room ready.

After arriving back at the guesthouse we set off to find our room - the bedding was clean but the room itself was in desperate need of updating! The window didnt even close so I was absolutely freezing for the 4 nights we stayed there! The bathroom was tiny and the paper around the shower was all flaking off with floorboards on shop above you which stunk of wallpaper paste when the shower was on!

On two occasions the noise coming from 2 of the rooms was horrendous! I got woken up every 2 hours by the sound of creaky floorboards - not nice at all!!

The gentleman was friendly throughout and was in no rush to take the money from us which we paid the night before we left. Overall this hotel was rather scary and in desperate need of refurbishment. I would not go back unless they had a complete revamp!

Room Tip: Pick a room on the top floor so you dont have to put up with the creaky floorboards!!

where to start,
boss booked this for us as a party of 12, when we got there we were told that some of the rooms had been re booked because we hadn't booked in before 5 ( we were driving ) and that they would try and sort it for us.
this was sorted after a while and we were separated over two floors.
the rooms were dirty there was still half empty alchohol bottles in the draws. the shared bathroom was moldy and the hot water tap didn't work.
rooms were noisy and dont think the sheets had been changed in a while, sure its good if your on a lads weekend for the rugby but thats about it.

i dont do bad reviews but if the fact that one of our party hadn't left something in one of the rooms and gone back at about 4pm to find it still in the room and all the mess in the bin from us and more people then in it i would have maybe given somehing positive but i cant.
its a dump.

Room Tip: go somewhere else.

There is nothing positive to say about is place I'm afraid. It's abundantly clear the owners don't care, or simply don't take pride, in their business.

Toilet broken, sink tap doesnt turn off, pillows wafer thin, bed so uncomfortable it's almost sarcastic, curtains covered in brown grime, wall paper peeling, lamps grubby and missing bits from the shade.

And this B&B doesn't serve breakfast.

Avoid at all costs.

Dirty, scummy, mouldy bathroom with a badly cracked toilet seat ,that was shared by us crossing the main reception. Not nice when you are in your PJ's and the door to the outside is propped open. Dirty carpets, No milk or spoons with the tea making facilities. Blinds that covered the windows but stood 2" away from them. Chipped paint, grubby wallpaper, no parking, cobwebs a foot long. Bathroom not cleaned whilst we were there. Beds made only once with holes in linen.
For a family room with no breakfast costing £257 and a view from the window that could be used as a location shot for a 'Get me out of here' show. Needless to say I would not recommend this to anyone een the animals at te zoo

Room Tip: Dont go at al to this place

Booked here to take my daughter to the Zoo which is only a 2min drive away and the price for a twin room suited my pocket at £40 for one nite, although breakfast was not a given option. The girl at reception was friendly and helpfull. The room was clean and warm but in need of re-decoration, walls are grubby, cracked floor tiles in the en-suite. Tea and coffee were in ample supply.

This is by far the worst guest house or B&B I've been in a 2 weeks trip accross Scotland. To be fair, it would not seem so terrible if the price was -50%, but I think 89£ for a room with no bathroom, no breakfast, very noisy (high traffic road), poorly furnished and 2miles away from town center is far too much. Actually we had another B&B just minutes away (The Avenue, on Murrayfield Avenue, that I would recommand) where we had a lovely stay for only 60£ / night (+ an excellent breakfast); too bad they had room only for one night !
The staff (actually one girl) is kind and helpfull though.
