“Great service!”
Reviewed April 14, 2013

My friend and I stumbled accross the royal mcgregor and were very pleasantly surprised! Sophie and jess the waitrwases went above and beyond to make our experience. Their charming personalities and friendly demeanor really made a normal pub lunch extra special. Thanks girls! Would also highly recommend the fish and chips!

“a pleasant surprise”
Reviewed April 11, 2013

This pub is situated on the Royal Mile and therefore one would expect it to be packed with tourists and to sell expensive mass produced pub grub - nothing could be further from the truth. We visited twice in one day - the first for a coffee and the second, an hour and a half later for a meal. The staff were extremely friendly and commented on the fact that we had been in earlier for coffee. The food is cooked to order and therefore one has to wait for a while. The place was quite quiet, but has plenty of atmosphere, a real hidden gem, definitely worth a visit.

“A fun place with great food”
Reviewed April 10, 2013

I'm so glad I was eating sugar still then, because the sticky toffee pudding was to die for. Staff was great fun and food was wonderful. We actually ate there twice in a busy week because we enjoyed it so much.

“Great atmosphere”
Reviewed March 29, 2013

It was great to find a place that was not a chain restaurant on the high street. It was a small bar/restaurant but had plenty of atmosphere. It was very popular so we were lucky to get a table. The food was delicious and it was great value for money too! Very pleased, will go back!
