Had a pretentious experience which ruined the vibe of the evening completely.
This place really isn't special and the drinks did not impress us. There's better bars around, especially in this price range.

Called in to sample a cocktail, glad I did.
The exterior is rather forbidding with a very industrial look and metal mesh on the windows. I pushed open the external double door to be plunged into near darkness whilst I fumbled for the inner double-doors. Once inside the place is dark with a small number of simple tables and chairs with a large bar opposite the bar.
The bar itself has lots of bottles of all sizes, many in wooden cupboards with glass doors. It looks more like an apothecary than a bar. I was given a glass of water and a old-fashioned brown envelope with a string fastener: inside was the cocktail and beer menu.
Many of the cocktails were unfamiliar: I asked for a long cocktail and was offered two options. The cocktail I chose had egg white and mustard in it: very different and rather tasty.
An interesting bar, especially if you're happy to experiment !

Got this place recommended by the waitress at a restaurant. It’s team was so funny and the drinks were excellent and original

The detective theme seemed somewhat limited/superfluous to this intimate cocktail bar just off Rose street. Space is limited with only a handful of tables and seats at the bar so a good idea to make a reservation. We nipped in early Saturday evening and were greeted by friendly staff who were happy to chat and help with any queries about the menu. Drinks were made skilfully but without unnecessary fuss. A very pleasant way to start our evening.

Absolutely outstanding experience last night. My partner and I took some visitors to Edinburgh to B&MPD. I've been before so knew we wouldn't be disappointed, and we weren't. Only had the one round but the attention to detail of staff and the deliciousness of the cocktails were sublime. Will be back.

We just came across this little gem after looking at google maps as to what was nearby. It doesn’t look like a bar from the outside but it definitely has the wow factor on the inside.
It has a good selection of cocktails. Staff are very friendly and welcoming. I would definitely recommend this to anybody who is in the city
