“Royal Mile & Ramsay's B&B”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 25, 2012

Just had one night at Ramsay's 25 East London St. & two nights in their Royal Mile apartment.
Welcome was fantastic, room excellent.
Royal Mile appartment has amazing location, its on first floor windows looks out onto Royal Mile, so you get all the atmosphere and private birds eye view. Two fringe stages in view so you can watch continuously changing preview acts.
Found first night bit noisey, but closed window and secondary dble glazing on 2nd night slept sound.
Nori comes in to cook breakfast at agreed time. Wife and I had great time.

Room Tip: Twin room at rear would be quiet.

Superb in every way--attractive, clean, comfortable, wonderful breakfasts with lots of variety possible, the most delightful and helpful hosts one could ask for, generous variety of things for tea, coffee, and cocoa making in the room (along with delicious Walker's biscuits),a terrific location near the center of town but not quite in it (about 5-10 minutes walk at most) and surrounded by excellent restaurants of the very nice but casual variety. In our room, we could hear no one else and had no traffic noise, jut the view of a pretty garden and several inquisitive neighborhood cats. I can't imagine a better B&B.

Room Tip: a room that looks out the back toward the garden.

Our two nights with the Ramsay's were terrific, and it was a great way to start our exploration of Scotland. Of all the guest houses we frequented on our ten-day trip, this was probably our favorite. The B&B is well situated near attractions and good restaurants, but tucked onto a quiet street in New Town. Our hosts Sharon and Norrie couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. The room may have been in the basement, but it was spotless, extremely comfortable and well appointed, and very quiet. We enjoyed our breakfasts immensely. This is a winner.

The only words to say about Ramsey's are positive ones. We were made so welcome from the minute we arrived until we left two nights later, which went far too quickly! Sharon and Norrie are great and go out of their way to help you make the most of the gorgeous city they are lucky to call home. The breakfasts are delicious, the beds are amazingly comfortable and the decor was gorgeous and just to my taste. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a quiet spot to sleep moments from the city centre. Just remember to book directly rather than through a website such as bookings.com to make sure of getting the best price.

Spectacular hosts - so welcoming and helpful. Sharon and Norrie are Edinburgh born and bred and eager to make sure you get the most out of your stay. The rooms are very classy, very good value for money with all the necessary conveniences. I would happily have paid £140 for our £100 room. The location is perfect. Ramsay's is surrounded by some of the best eateries in Edinburgh, a very cosmopolitan atmosphere we really enjoyed.
Breakfast is something else - Sharon cooks up a mean full English complete with Haggis and Black pudding. There are plenty of other options for breakfast too including Kipper, Salmon, croissants and fruit.
I would highly recommend you stay here. You will not be disappointed. I feel like I'd go back to Edinburgh just to stay again!!

We stayed at ramsay B&B at Edinburgh Scotland. The rates were a tad on the higher side (160 pounds for three), and the room was located in the basement, the rooms were extremely well maintained, well furnished and the break fast was teuly outstanding much better than what you find in starred hotel. The owners were quite friendly and the b&B has a fantastic location near weverly bridge and the castle and palace are within walking distance. The beds were very comfortable and the stay was very homely and enjoyable. I will gladly recommend this place.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in groud floor when you book a room. Negotiate the rates.

This B & B is located in Edinburgh New Town, a section of the city that dates from the late 1700s but is new compared with Edinburgh Old Town. About a 10 minute walk from the rail station, Ramsay’s is situated on quiet East London Street just around the corner from Broughton Street and a fine selection of restaurants. We liked the fact that at the end of the day we could leave Old Town and the crowds behind and descend to this tranquil district of residential row-house streets. The B & B itself is superb: we had a beautifully appointed room, firm mattress, excellent contemporary bathroom, and a view of a green backyard frequented by peaceful neighborhood cats. Wi-Fi comes with the room and the signal is strong. The breakfast menu at Ramsay’s features everything from cereal, eggs, bacon and sausage to haggis, black pudding, smoked salmon and kippers, all sourced locally. Hosts Sharon and Norrie Ramsay are at once warm and thoroughly professional in the way they serve their guests. I would rank this among the best B & B’s I have known.
