This hotel is conveniently positioned in a nice clean & quiet corner of the city. And within a short walk of Princes St & the castle. The staff are excellent and the breakfast value for money. The rooms are perhaps a little tired but clean & tidy. Its downfall is that it is a hotel made up of a collection of very old buildings. If a fellow guest enters their room at 2am it can be heard. If they bag around in their room at 4am it can be heard. If the moron then falls asleep to children's TV programs at 5am it can also be heard. I am pleased to say that the staff dealt with this very professionally.

Stayed here one night as I needed to catch an early train from Haymarket Station, 5 mins walk away. Despite arriving very very late the person on check-in was extremely cheerful and helpful and the room was perfectly adequate. This is not your usual identikit Travelodge though, being a period building, so I guess the rooms must differ. The only down side noisy fellow guests slamming doors at 2:30 am, but that's 21c Britain!

The building is stunning. Usually with Travelodge you can expect the same cookie cutter room as standard, but I was really blown away with this. Intact period features, double height ceilings - it was just a HUGE room - perfect space for my 2 year old to run around in before bedtime!

The staff were really helpful and we had a great stay here - super close to Haymarket station and easy to find. In close reach of the Zoo and plenty of other amenities.

Was kept waiting a few times in the bar area as there seems to be very few staff on at any one time, however all of the staff were very welcoming.

Only thing I really can't stand (at any Travelodge) is the microwaved bacon at breakfast.... it's truly awful! :)

Excellent location and beautiful building. Inside doesn't match the outer as it is ultra modern and the style and age of the building is Edwardian. However, this hotel was clean, tidy and of a good standard. Possibly one of the best travelodge's in the UK.

Tried this hotel after very impressed with Queen Street Travelodge as it was also advertised as newly refurbished rooms. Not impressed so much with this one. Was upgraded to a family room which was very good of staff member, but room was cold - very large draughty windows and very small heater. No heat in the grubby bathroom and expelair was clogged full with dust so not effective.
Good central location though for restaurant we visited nearby. Fine for really cheap deal, but maybe we need to spend a bit more these days!

Room Tip: This is a quiet location.

/this much better than usual travelodge, little difficult to find but well worth the effort. few minutes walk from haymarket train station. The staff were exceptional. lots of local knowledge and very friendly and approachable. the room was big with a lovely garden view to the back of the hotel, . Very quiet and lovely comfy bed and pillows. being able to leave bags was a real bonus and the internet service in bar was very good. would certainly stay here again when visiting edinburgh. Reasonable rates for nice quiet stay.

Room Tip: room 204 on 2nd floor facing rear of hotel, very quiet and lovely view over gardens.
