“Moving On Up”
Reviewed September 5, 2016 for a stay in August 2016

Edinburgh is an expensive city so we decided to splurge a bit and our family of four stayed three nights in Tony’s penthouse apartment; we loved every minute of it! Tony was great to deal with, meeting us in the lobby on arrival and advising us of his travel plans and contact numbers via email before our departure.

The place is as beautiful as the pictures show, and is perfect for families. Everyone found the beds were comfortable, although no feather pillows are provided. It has all the major appliances including a dishwasher and washer/dryer unit, plus included many basics like paper towels, kitchen ingredients, and laundry detergent. With separate bedrooms for the kids, two bathrooms, and a private balcony for the adults, we really enjoyed spending time here each evening.

Before we booked my biggest concern was the location being outside Edinburgh proper. However, for others concerned the location was perfect. Parking was easy and free, and the apartment was within an easy walk of three restaurants in the evening (seafood, pizza and Brewers Fayre pub). Also a few minutes away by car was an ASDA to stock up on supplies, as well as a modern shopping mall with a food court. Going into town there was a bus stop (under 5GBP per family of 4) just a five minute walk from the apartment that ran about every 10 minutes until at least after the Tatoo ended. A one-way trip took about 30-45 minutes as it has a lot of stops. Alternatively, we found Uber cabs were also affordable between the apartment and Golden Mile (between 10 and 15 GBP), but it was difficult to catch one from the apartment to downtown as not many drivers hung out that far. However, getting one back was easy.

Our only complaint was that the bedrooms could use some sort of room darkening shades/blinds as the sun was very bright waking us up early. I would also add mini-blinds in the main family room would have been helpful in the evening as the sun was bright enough you couldn’t see the TV with all those windows. I previously mentioned it to the owner who was going to look into it so maybe that will change soon. And while it didn’t make a difference, I note in Scotland penthouse must not mean top floor as we were in the middle of the building on the 8th floor. That said we had no problems with the neighbors above us and still had incredible views of the sunset from the private balcony as the photo can attest to.

The only problem with staying here is that everything else now pales in comparison. A truly wonderful stay and we hope to be able pass through again someday.

“Stunning views and excellent accommodation”
Reviewed July 31, 2016 for a stay in July 2016

Stayed here for the last week of July and the apartment was brilliant. It was clean, modern, well cared for. It had all you needed in modern conveniences to make it feel like home from home. But the views ....they are breathtaking. You actually feel as if you are on a boat due to the Firth of Forth being all around. Sitting there watching the different boats...cruise liners etc was fascinating and very relaxing. Very easy to get into Edinburgh, bus 5 minutes away and very regular. If you want comfort and a relaxing location but with the buzz of a city near by this is the place for you. The owner Tony was easily contactible and friendly. I will be recommending this too friends.
