“gluten free=stress free breakfast available!”
Reviewed July 28, 2012

We stayed here recently and all members of staff were extremely helpful. We needed gluten free and dairy free food at breakfast and they provided gluten free bread and cornflakes as well as soya milk, which made a huge difference to us! The family room was quite small but clean and quiet at night. We will definitely stay there again. Thank you!

We (2 parents and young adult son) recently stayed here for 4 nights. The hotel itself is fairly modern. The room was somewhat small for the 3 of us but it seems hard to find rooms for 3 in Edinburgh. Buffet breakfast is provided every morning. Typical fare-meats, pastry, cereal, yogurt, fruit-and fairly tasty. I must add that the staff is super friendly and really is dedicated to serving you in any way possible. We want to particularly mention Ms. Rebecca Thompson, who was awesome as a staff member! She did so any things to help us out. She had grace, charm and a wonderful work ethic.

The true strength of this hotel is the location. It is located about a block away from the Royal Mile, the main street in the Old Town section of Edinburgh. Most things of sight-seeing interest are along the Royal Mile, which is book-ended by the main attractions of Edinburgh Castle and the Palace of Holyrood. Lots of places to eat and souvenir shop along the Royal Mile. We saw very few hotels in the Old Town area and they looked much more basic than ours... I guess most visitors to Edinburgh stay in the New Town ("New" being relative, first developed in the 1770s), but the Old Town seems more authentic and as I said above is much more convenient to most places of tourist interest.

Located just slightly off the Royal Mile, this Holiday Inn Express is very worth the price. It has the basic facilities that guests need, clean rooms, reasonably good breakfast (not just your typical roll + fruit + coffee/tea but a good array of food) and friendly staff. It was quiet at night even though we saw that the hotel reception and dining area were crowded with guests each day. Wholly recommend it to anyone who's looking for a clean and comfortable place to stay but is not willing to spend a fortune on accommodation in this magnificent city.

A typical hiexpress with basic room and board, however the parking is offsite and run by ncp, if you have a lot of baggage you cant guarantee a space outside, its a bit of a walk uphill from the carpark. Expect £20 for a 12-24hr stay at the carpark. The hotel is well situated and close to holyrood palace and parliament as well as pubs, restaurants and shops.

I spent 6 nights here in April. The location is great, 1 block from the Royal Mile, less that 1/2 mile from Waverly station. The room was very clean, good size with a futon that worked great as a couch. The best thing is the room was so quiet, I had to ask if there was anyone above or beside me - the hotel was full! There was Wifi in the room (must get your pass code from front desk) that actually worked. Breakfast was plentiful with good choices. The front desk could not have been more helpful. If I am ever in Edinburgh again, this is my first choice

Room Tip: Ask for a room with futon - same price, gives you a nice place to sit other than the bed.

This is a Holiday Inn, so not as plush as a more expensive hotel- but great for what you get. The room was clean and comfortable, and the only thing I didn't like was that it didn't have any drawers or a proper closet. But breakfast more than made up for it and the one staff member I kept talking with was amazing (I wish I could remember her name but can't). It is easy to walk to major attractions within the city.
