This restaurant was recommended by a concierge at the hotel. It is a small restaurant in the middle of a residential area in Edinburgh. They serve traditional Scottish food such as Haggis. Nice atmosphere and good service.

This is one of those places where at first glance the menu prices look a bit high, but by the end of the meal you feel you have had real value for money. High quality ingredients, excellently cooked and well presented. A short menu and five of us had more or less everything on it and were well pleased with what was presented.

10 out of 10 for styling, ambience, menu, food, wine and service! Would absolutely recommend a visit to this lovely restaurant serving a locally sourced, Scottish menu with a modern twist, in modern surroundings reminiscent of traditional Scottish dwellings. Pretty much the only things not Scottish were the waiters, who appeared to be Spanish or Italian, but provided excellent service, and the very good wine selection. Wouldn't be a Scottish restaurant without an extensive whiskey menu too.

The upstairs restaurant/bar seems to be used for lunch, but the Scottish themed one is down the stairs. Don't miss the 'optional' 10% service charge included in the bill. If you like red wine, try the Agentinian Malbec. For dessert, if they have Pistachio cake with cherry and vanilla ice-cream and goats cheese quenelle, you really should try it... it's yum! On the expensive side, but very worth it.

Enjoy! :o)

I had been here before, but as part of a group in a private room, so was keen to seen how it went in the main restaurant. The food was excellent, but we had to wait ages for each course, and it was after 11 by the the time we left from an 8pm booking. Would still recommend it for the food, and will probably go back at some point.

Spent a week with colleagues and had arranged a number of meals of which this was one of three in Edinburgh. My first impression was a faint whiff of damp as I entered the basement restaurant. This may have been due to the heavy snow outside. The tables were nicely arranged and the limited menu for the group was very acceptable. Dishes ranged from pan fried pigeon breast to mackerel with pickled cucumber for starters and vegetarian haggis with carrots and turnips or a rib eye of beef.
Staff were very friendly and the service was good enough to merit a generous tip.My one little niggle is that bottles of wine were removed when finished and I (as a non-drinker) found it a little awkward to note the size of the drinks bill, without some evidence of consumption left in plani sight.
I'm sure this would be a very pleasant venue for couples and did the job for a big group.
