Great party venue. Every room Is different. Beds very comfortable, decent dining room but quite small kitchen for this size of property. The castle are big on recycling which is refreshing for rentals. The bins are around half a mile away from property though so be prepared to pack car boots and do some bin runs! Lots of rules - eg clean the toilets, strip the beds and vacuum. Bit much if you ask me, never encountered that before all with a 10am checkout. We ended up cleaning vaccuuming the night before as no time with all the kids in the morning. We enjoyed our stay but couldn't really relax with all the chores we had to do and instruction letters stating large charges for not adhering to house rules. We are always super respectful of rental properties. If you don't mind a bit of cleaning and enjoy unusual properties then this is for you.
When I booked Craufurdland Castle for my 40th birthday celebration I didn’t realise how perfect it would be. Really well equipped kitchen with some stocks of non-perishable items which you inevitably have forgotten as well as cling film, foil etc which are normally overlooked. The owners were helpful and informative while being available but discreet. The house itself was beautiful and such a treat to use as our home for a weekend. Surrounding countryside was magical in the light snow and frosty weather. Thank you to Adity and Simon.
The location is the perfect balance of nearness to main roads and stations, easy to find, and yet secluded in its beautiful surroundings of field, woodland and loch. We had a wonderful weekend gathering for two significant birthdays, with permission to have extra day guests as well as those staying over. Everyone just adored the castle wing with its grandeur and yet cosiness. It was well equipped in every way, and Adity could not have been more helpful with our queries in advance of our stay, and very relaxed with our special 'party' requests. All in all a superb few days, with several friends asking about possible future stays.
We spent a week at this wonderful location to get married in Scotland. We flew in with family and friends and could not have asked for more. Craufurdland Castle is a magical place to spend some time with a group of people.
During the booking process, Adity had always been very helpful and had responded very fast to our Emails. Whenever we had a special request she tried making it possible!
The place itself was fully equipped to host 16 people. There was enough of everything, starting with 2 coffee machines to provide everybody with coffee in the morning to enough pots and pans to make dinner. There was absolutely nothing missing.
The drawing room was the most precious room with comfortable couches, a huge fireplace and a great atmosphere, just as if you were taken back in time. The bedrooms each had their own unique furniture and they all had a different look and were all wonderful. Even the roof could be accessed to have a fantastic view over the grounds. The castle is big enough to have time for yourself and has many great spots where you can hang out with others.
So if you are looking for a unique and magical week to spend with loved ones, this is the place!
Our guest have already requested we make it an annual trip :)
Far too hard to do Craufurdland justice in a short review. Amazing, characterful, comfortable rooms, personal access to fascinating family history and artefacts, charmingly beautiful castle and grounds that feel like they really belong to you, unbelievably welcoming interesting hosts. You won't regret booking a stay here. We will definitely be back. Thank you so much to Simon, Adity, Indra and Manisha from Zaila, John, Freddie & Arthur x
