I have visted this restaurant many times over the last 10 years en route to parents in Ayrshire. The last time was only last week.

My children have always enjoyed their meal whatever their ages and they have grown up with the menu and tried different meals as they get older and stronger drinks when they were old enough.

The restaurant has never let me down even when exceptionally busy to being the only person eating( that hasn't happened too often!!)

An ideal location being only 2 minutes off the main A77 road for those going to the coast or travelling to the ferry ports - it will not take you off your route either but be careful crossing the this busy dual carriageway

We found this lovely inn by chance when travelling between Troon and Strathaven early on a Saturday evening in September. Our party of five adult diners had not booked and the restaurant was already busy. The manager found a good table for us; the waiting staff were friendly and well organised. There was a good choice on the menu, with our vegetarian friend having several options to choose from. The food was delicious and good value for money. Judging from the occupied tables around us, the restaurant gets a good deal of repeat business - indeed, we would happily make a return visit ourselves when next in the area.

We had a single course lunch and the main course was more than sufficient. The menu was extensive and had a number of tempting interesting items. Both of us had, from the blackboard, the grilled fish platter - salmon, monkfish, haddock and scallops with a lemon butter, small salad and thin crisp chips. Very tasty indeed. The cup of tea to follow was rather nondescript. The building itself is very old but comfortable with a coal fire. The old village is attractive and worth a stroll.
