I've never experienced somewhere that is perfect for couples, perfect for families and perfect for stag / hen weekends.
We had a romantic 3 night break and our lodge was amazing, hot tub in the snow then into the sauna then streatch out by the fire before heading out for the most amazing dinner. The steak I had was the the best I've ever experienced and the bar / dining area had a great atmosphere where all types of groups were equally at home.
Love it - will be back for another romantic weekend as soon as we can and would love a lads weekend of golf and outdoor sports here too.

Just came back from a 4 night break at Piperdam, where we stayed in a Muirlock Executive Lodge. Had a great relaxing stay in a beautifully relaxing lodge which was perfect for our stay. Huge bed. sauna, hot tub and a well equipped kitchen was great. Quiet, on a fantastic snowy woodland setting was just what we needed. Close to Camperdown Park, Dundee city centre and just over an hours drive to Edinburgh so plenty around if you don't mind driving. Leisure club was great with a nicely heated pool, gym, sauna and steam and a nice bar and restaurant. Drinks reasonable priced but last orders at 10pm was surprising. Overall a great place, we would definitely return and recommend a lodge with a hot tub, as there is nothing better than sitting in a hot tub with the snow falling around you.

Spend a henny weekend here. 10 people fits fine into one of the bigger cabins - had a VIP cabin - well worth it. Had a nice hot tub on the roof, great surroundings also, went for a run on the nearby farm tracks - great views. Lots of familys staying too, playing area, swimming pool and outdoors activities - something for everyone. The resturant were great, lovely fresh cook food and with a good menu to choose from.

I recently returned from a short break at Piperdam with a group of friends. The lodge was very nice and clean, and the beds were extremely comfortable. The hot tub was great. Although we had a lovely time on the whole, we did have some complaints....

For a "luxury" lodge, it was not well equipped at all. Almost nothing is provided for your stay! The cooker had no visible markings to let you see which is the oven, grill etc., or to see the temperature. It has all been wiped off and there are no instructions. We struggled to find enough utensils to cook our meals. The kitchen knives were blunt and there is a lack of crockery - no tea plates at all, only large dinner plates and then tiny saucers. There were torn, dirty looking tea towels which I would have thrown in the bin years ago at home, and the oven glove was so old and flimsy you were likely to get burned using it. Although the bathrooms were nice, spotless, and with excellent showers, they do not even supply basic items like a floor mat for stepping out of the shower. We had taken our own towels as we knew in advance there was a rental charge for hiring them, but did not expect to have to take a bath mat! Our floors were always soaking wet as we were not prepared to use our own clean towels to clean the tiled floors. In the kitchen there was no washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets (there was no point in using the dishwasher anyway, as there were no spare plates or cutlery at all!), cloths, scourers, or kitchen roll provided. It was the least well equipped self catering accommodation we have ever stayed in. Even the single cheap toilet rolls in the bathrooms ran out after 2 days and there were no additional ones provided. Very poor, and a shame, as the lodges themselves are so nice.

We ate in the restaurant one evening. It was very busy and extremely disorganised. The management was poor and our meal was a bit of a disaster, I'm afraid. Again, it was a shame, because the restaurant area is actually very nice. We weren't even asked for feedback, or if we enjoyed our stay when we checked out. They didn't seem interested. Probably wouldn't go back unless they raise their game.

A weekend away with the ladies and it was very relaxing and exactly what the dr ordered. We had a Rainbow Executive lodge which was ace. It had an indoor sauna as well as an outdoor hottub - all to ourselves. The bedrooms, bathrooms and lounge/kitchen were all lovely.

We ate in the restaurant on the 2nd night and the food was lovely. Glad we did book in the morning as there were 3 large parties taking up the centre of the room with only the smaller tables on the surround of the room.

Staff were all very pleasant except for the older receptionist on check out on the Sunday afternoon. She was busy on a personal telephone call and was finishing before coming to get the keys from us. She knew we were waiting, made eye contact more than once but still carried on for another 5-10 minutes. When she did come and see us she was brisk to say the least.

My only grumble is the taking of a credit card deposit. 2 weeks after checking in and still it has not been returned to my card.

The location of the lodges, the actual lodges and the restaurant were spot on and I would recommend them for all types of groups. Next time we go I will definitely be doing the quad biking as it looked good fun.

Room Tip: Rainbow Executive for 4 was lovely.

Our 5th year in a row having a winter break in their muirloch cabins.
If your looking for a log cabin with a private hot tub, sauna and everything else you need for a relaxing stay, then this is the place.
Staff are amazingly helpful, bar is reasonable and surroundings are superb.

My boyfriend and I just got back from a week at Piperdam (Mon-Fri). After a 5 hour drive up from York we were hoping for a nice welcome and not to be disappointed with the accommodation (after reading mixed reviews on here). The lady on reception was not particularly friendly and didn't even say hello, but we didn't mind too much as when we got into our lodge it was amazing! We stayed in Muirloch lodge 3 and first impressions were great - really clean, tidy, beautifully decorated and furnished and well laid out. The whole lodge was really spacious and luxurious. The only slight negatives were, as people have mentioned, lack of kitchen equipment (there was only 1 tray and 1 very small, old and tatty frying pan). There were also a couple of stains on the mattress and sheets. You do need to take a lot of things with you so here's a little list: towels (bath and hand), bath mat, tea towels, dishwasher tablets/washing up liquid, cleaning stuff, hand wash/soap, extra trays/pans, an extra bin liner or two, loo roll.
It was amazing having the hot tub and sauna at the lodge and we used them both lots. The sofas were really comfy and the huge bed was amazingly comfy. It was very quiet at the lodge and felt private. The lake and setting is very pretty and the swimming pool/gym etc were good on site although we only used them once. We also ate at the restaurant on the last night. The food was quite nice but a little overpriced for what it was.
We were very lucky with the weather so spent every day exploring the amazing countryside and it's a really good base for going North into the Highlands, East to the coast and to explore cities like Perth and Edinburgh. Dundee is also only a 10 minute drive away which is handy for supermarkets, petrol etc.
Overall I'd really recommend Piperdam for a holiday - it was lovely, reasonably priced and in a gorgeous area.
